[Build] Chillin', Killin'
Just reserving first comment for any videos and additional information I might add later. <3
gears r pretty defensively build , try to get the videos asap, really curios of how its gonna work out
I’ve considered swapping out the Accessories for Berserker ones actually. The idea of the build is to have control of the fight though, and slow things down (literally with Chill). So having huge burst for the sacrifice of survival worries me.
In a fight, if I get jumped by someone Glassy, they’ll at least have a harder time killing me immediately. And if they don’t kill me right away, then suddenly they’re in a world of panic with Chill proccing all over, being immobilized, and taking huge stacks of vulnerability.
Theoretically the damage output as a power build seems lacking as well as movement speed out of combat possibly being an issue for most. It’s definitely a high skill cap build as is all lockdown builds because if you miss your shots and interrupts itll be dangerous.
..being a cynical forecaster.
..being a doom-monger….and being a hopeless jinxer.
Always fun to see other builds inspired by the now pretty old dog in chillruption
As for your build here, three things I would do:
1) Drop wastrel’s punishment in favor of illusionary elasticity. You will do much more overall damage with that. Wastrel’s punishment is a waste since everyone is spamming something all the time in big fights.
2) I don’t like ice runes in WvW. You’re not going to realize the damage boost too often due to the random chill procs. You’d be much better off with something like pack runes which will give you a much welcome damage boost with decent fury uptime, plus mobility.
3) Utility choice. With a lockdown oriented interrupt build, you’re going to want to give yourself as much of a chance to strip stability as possible. For me, null field is a necessity for that, and helps clear conditions from you and allies in a wide range as well. I run only null field in my chillruption build in WvW and never have a problem with conditions.
As with any AoE lockdown build, keep in mind most will work decently in pug zergs but not as well as your world tier rises. Personally, I pug’d the updated chillruption the other night for a few hours and it still works great.
Hmm, interesting suggestios. I happen to agree with them for the most part.
While I’m hesitant to drop the Ice Runes due to the Chill Duration bonus, I’ve realized it only adds 3/4 of a second to my attack proc. I think I’d rather have 10 seconds of Might/Fury/Swiftness and some extra power than 3/4 of a second longer Chill… heh.

I opted to take Berserker Accessories as mentioned as well. 2400~ Toughness and 18k~ HP is still very doable, especially when using a Staff as a defensive Swap + Decoy. I’m considering even taking Signet of Inspiration over Decoy actually as well.

tried the build , without deceptive evasion its pretty underwhelming, gonna try with DE instead 20 in inspiration now
It make take a bit to get used to, but with a 4.5 second Mirror Blade I really don’t see Deceptive Evasion being worth it to blow 20 points in. What would you drop to get it?
I guess you could try 2/4/6/0/2, but then you have ZERO cooldown on your GS, thus making your Vuln/Might stacks substantially less from Mirror Blade, and no CD on Phantasm or iWave. =/
Keep in mind you don’t really need 3 clones to F3 Shatter. only 1 has to hit for the effects to proc. You’d just lose some Vuln stack.

keep in mind that mirror blade has to hit to spawn a clone, and my favourite trait is deceptive evasion:p
anyway i tried exactly this build in 2 outnumbered fights , had a blast with it
here is the build i tried, grenth runes work rly good with miror heal
ah and i cant afford to loose my energy sigils on weapons :p, they cost 12 g atm >.<
anyway gonna try to test out more and if possible, record it
I got around to playing fully with it a bit tonight actually, and I might agree that Deceptive Evasion is sort of… missing. Especially with how fast opportunities to shatter are coming up in WvW fights. Will have a look and try to tweak a bit. I still like the idea though. Might take some adjustments.
i modified the build pretty much as i was roaming, found this set up best for now
i could have taken focus but, iWarden kept coming to my mind so i hesitated, u can swap the manipualtion range to sword skills cd thingy, its about 1 interrupt everytime u swap to sword, or 2 if u use right away and then before swapping out
anyway uploading a video of the fights i had in 2 hrs, arent rly many and may not be fun to watch, i just wanted to have it done and go back to my poke and run shatter build:p dont get me wrong, the build is fun to play , but its not rly relaxing as u need to watch ur enemy to land the interrupts, interrupt builds arent rly my thing in wvw
edit: and i was pretty clumsy, didnt upload half the fights i had cause i kept using shatter combos and ruining my phantasms and sustained dmg etc:(

vid up~ edited and forgot it doesnt bump the thread~
So that build is quite different than OP posted – basically the standard 4/4/6 lockdown spec that’s become really popular over the last few months with the one change being the grenth runes, which is rather interesting. You obviously lose the damage from other popular rune sets but the additional chill is indeed nice.
I personally run grenth runes in a condition lockdown build, but don’t know if I’d run those in such a power heavy spec since you can kill things faster with a power focused rune.
I have been thinking about chill for a while. I run a cripple build and added the 2 sigils for extra chill . Works very well. idea is to CC your opponent as much as you can and use the long range of GS to kill them at max distance where they can’t hit you. Power PU with condi food .
The build has changed too much from my original idea, but I figured if anyone wanted to know what I was running now:
I’m really happy with how this build plays. I was in a few 1v1’s and 1v2’s with guardians, necros and ele’s last night, and I won most of them, or if I didn’t, it was because we both just couldn’t kill each other and kept reseting the fight so I just left.
Not really sure what to call it… but it’s a really fun, powerful Roaming + Zerg video.
wow totally didnt realise that i made it to a 4/4/6 meta interrupt build o.O
