[Build] Protection Master.... Thoughts?
My only real question is, how viable is the healing power stat in general? I’m coming back from a 6 month hiatus, so I’m not really sure what to make of the Healing Power stat in general, especially with Mesmers.
With phantasmal healing its pretty sweet. Everyone in the party heals for about 200+ every second and then we have the Restorative mantra. All in all it winds up being quite amazing.
However I do have a request for Anet. That the phantasmal healing minor trait not grant regeneration the boon, but just grant passive healing that way mesmers like eles soothing mist, engi’s backpack regenerator, warriors healing signet, guardians virtue of resolve etc. Right now the only direct Heal over time that mesmers get is regen and the burst heal from the mantra charge up. But seriously that is something that is holding mesmer bunker builds back is the ability to regenerate health over time. We only have one direct way to do it.
Thanks for the info JPort. I’ve been browsing the forums for a decent Phantasm Build. I’ve also checked out the lists of builds up top, care to point me in the right direction please?
Thanks again!

For a good phantasm build check Pyro’s Overpowered Pve phantasm build. But in general a good phantasm build is going to be along the lines of 10/30/0/30/0 that way your phantasms hit like a truck.
Thanks man. Appreciate all that input.
Think that build would do decent in WvW as well?

Unfortunately, we’re dealing with the same guys who added ICDs to Illusionary Membrane and Blinding Befuddlement. And one can argue that both of these Traits
helped Mesmers bunker better, one directly, the other indirectly. This kind of track record makes me not cross my fingers hoping for your idea -good as it may be- to be implemented.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
Yeah that is fair enough. But it is just one of the several things I have noticed mesmers lacking as far as bunkering goes. This is something that almost all other bunker builds have is passive heals aside from regen. I understand that mesmers have restorative mantras but tell me just how easy it is to interrupt a mesmer prepping a mantra.
I think the only other “passive” (yeah, right) healing source is spamming shatters to proc restorative illusions. I’ve heard even that hasn’t seemed to quite cut it for bunkers though. I love the idea of changing phantasmal healing to a permanent passive heal.

Tested full on restorative illusions before with max healing power…. Let’s just say its kind of meh especially for a grand master trait. IMO the entire grand master tree in inspirations is just kind of blah. I mean shattered conditions and restorative illusions is cool and all but where they are just sucks.
I just tried this in sPvP. And I gotta say….this has been the most fun build I’ve had yet. xD It’s soo much assuming the frustration on the other players for not being able to kill me 1v4 ish. xD It’s sooo satisfying.

Yeah this build is pretty hilarious esp. If you take illusionary defense the only reason I use the iDisenchanter in tPvP is the Condi meta if mesmer Condi removal gets a buff and/or condis get toned down I’m swapping to the defender and letting the lawls ensue! Glad you like the build man!
Hey JPort, just wanted to pick your brain out a bit more. I know I read that mesmers in general are in the low end of the totem pole in regards to tPvP.
I was thinking of using your build because I’ve had the most fun and most success with it. However, You did point out in Menace’s topic that the stealth escapability puts a liability on capping points. As well as heavily reliant on Mantras, when you get interrupted, you’re pretty much jacked.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is, would there be adjustments you’d make to make this particular build viable? And if so what are they? If not, should I be trying something else, like Sensotix’s confusion phantasm build?
Right now this particular build isn’t the best bet for a point bunker in PvP. If you’re enemy is dumb enough to keep trying to kill you 1vX even when they own the point then its fine because you won’t die.
However if they get wise to the fact that you’re damage output is meh, then you can’t do much to keep them from going to other fights. However I have sat on a point and 1v3 for an entire match because they were too dumb to go help their team mates out else where. And to make it more viable I would say don’t use mantras as they are way to easily interruptable. iDisenchanter is a good bet for dealing with necros and such in a 1v1 or 1v2 situation.
Spirit rangers are still a pain in the butt. Everything else is a fight of attrition that unless they completely outheal you you should be fine
Another variant that is more on the damaging side is
0/20/30/0/20 with runes the same but taking illusionary elasticity and a rabid amulet. Only downside is your CD on veil goes up up…. I am hoping that one day Anet realizes how bad the icelerity nerf screwed anyone that isn’t a shatter and at least moves it down to the master tree.
