Always played shatter mesmer, now its time to change a bit!

Soo I tried confusion and it pretty niceee, works good in sPvP havent tried it yet in tPvP, but the dmg is really nice! And, oh yeh, no staff?!

Im trying diff utilities, need to use them more!

Adjust builds on conditions etc :P Portal and illusion of life is just a must for every tournament!

I have to say this is a super interesting build to me. I’m going to use this tonight and give it a shot. Very creative. Thank you for posting this. I’m excited to try it.

Well ran it all night in wvw solo ganking. It is a great dueling build no doubt. You put on such consistent confusion even the most condi removal specs won’t keep up for long. I’m also sitting at 1850 condi before might stacks and using Hoelbrak runes so with 10 stacks we’re over 2200 condi damage. I’m not getting high stacks of confusion really but it’s consistent and always on target.

Team play? Mm I would still think a class 20-20 shatter would be better just for the raw aoe burst. Hmm, my opinion.

I would not use a spec like this in pve though when I can roll a classic 0-20-20-0-30 and do a lot more straight aoe damage with zerker.

Very cool spec though none the less and very fun to run for a nice change of pace. +9000 for creativity.

I will update it soon, printscr traits. As for tpvp, it can be interesting, done it a few times with this build now, together with a necro is a pain, its not just the confusion, its also the bleed that ticks for 123 normal, and the torment. Changed some runes so i got 1 sec longer for bleeds. Changed amulet with Rabid and carrion ruby, cond is the same but I survive a power burst much better! Cond I got power cleanse and the trait that cures when healing. You can bunk together and do some good dmg at mid with a guard for example. You got alot of stealth health regen and thoughness, and can kill another bunker pretty fast with condition, you can bunker close, but lose all of the stealth! Get portal iluusion of life etc.. This is just imo, trting to be innovative! Its doesnt mean its the best way or it can works.. but in mine mind it does.. pls try it out!!!

As for PvE, I really dont play PvE, but change sword/torxh for staff ofc.. I like sword/torch for pvp in def closw you can change it also for stafg or sword focus but you wont get benefits with cond from sword/focus! Im still trying out new things.. played shatter starting with bwe2.. bwe1 I played the build they gave you at the start :p.. torch n4 fives burn and blind abd stealth can be good in mod fights and you wont get focussed that much!

Im using 2 x Lyssa and 2 x condition/15% bleed duration and idem ditto!! Will update it asap.. on mine mobile now I think most of you know what I mean.

You could drop 5 from crit tree and pick up Illusionary persona, play it more as a shatter spec especially since scepter is double proccing clones.

I was using hoelbrak runes with battle sigils. My favorite part of the spec is that it doesnt use staff to be honest. I’m not a fan of GS or focus outside of pve personally.

Also note that if you go 0/20/0/25/25 (and take berserker gear for strength), you have a solid phantasm build. I play this in pve atm. (sword/focus and greatsword with sometimes something else for focus according to the needs and fancies)

Now for conditions in pve, I used to have rampager gear.
Confusion’s rather dissapointing seeing the small amount of attacks npcs do in an unpredictable fashion.
The bleeds on crit on the other hand are strong.
But all in all I don’t recommend it for pve since there are more effective, stronger builds there. (imho) That does not mean it wouldn’t be good at all! It’s a solid build also in pve, but for pve there just are better. (again imho)

Yeh, I wanted to try that. But what crossed my mind, 25 in dueling gives confusion on killinh illusions, but 30 in illusions gives a bit more cond dmg and a majot trait ehich I havent look in yet! I will def try it but this build plays smooth in spvp that I didnt want to change it yet.. hehe.. ty!!

Edit: I did it also with battle sigil.. but i just wanted a bit morw survive with the enegery sigil for more dodging.. and enegery and battle sigils wont stack together.. ((

Yeh, phantasm builds are still strong. Even in spvp, regardless of what ppl are saying on the forums! Full carrion armor weps
Full Rabid ascended jewelry
Full Hoelbrak runes
2x Sigils of battle

That worked pretty well for me. 1850 condi with scepter trait and condi sigil. That’s before the 10 stacks of might which are on you the whole time.

I’m not seeing how you can possibly make scepter work without full cond damage. Scepter is now a pure condi weapon unless you want torment to tickle.

I picked 2x lyssa instead of nightmare, it wont give an extra sec of bleed but getting a bit more time for other cond with lyssa ^^

I might change Sigil of earth for sigil of corruption.

Seems tanky enough to endure a DoT fight, and has utlities to reset/escape if needed. Not sure of how the killing power will turn out though.

(I only took ascended amulet bcs I don’t have the resources to go full ascended on trinkets)

Have you tried 0/0/30/20/20 with prismatic understanding?

I think it would make a mean backnode mesmer…every time you stealth you get Aegis, Protection + Regen.

It definitely doesn’t do as much dmg since you don’t really bleed people anymore, but you get lots of survivability…

I actually traited up this exact same build last night after checking into the changes. So far I’m really quite pleased with it.

Throw some fields into your utility slots (Null Field, Feedback, etc) and your various phantasms can aid in Confusion stacking.

I run Scepter/Pistol, always nice when I can pop a feedback bubble on my target and let the Duelist add a couple stacks… Or swap to the Greatsword and let the Zerker do a whole crowd for me.

Suppose I should mention that I typically use this for PVE.

Yeah, just like that… Works great in PVE, especially boss fights where you’ve got time to get all those duelists out.

Also what are your general rotations, and goals during a boss fight with this build?
Stack 3 duelists, etc?

I’ll see about getting some screenies up later… I need to re-socket all my gear though. Still using the same runes as before the patch so my build isn’t optimized, but my traits are pretty solid.
