Build advise - WvW Solo Condi roaming
I recently put this up. Has build, vids, and discussion you could draw on.
I’ll just say right now that your mobility is your greatest weakness.
For mobility IMO taking traveler runes fixes a lot. The difference is trivial as far as stats go. The speed gained along with using a focus in between combat is what is needed for mesmer in wvw.
I’m guessing you mean in combat mobility?
Does the 25% speed bonus weigh up to the damage from the extra confusion stacks?
The rune difference in confusion damage doesn’t seem that trivial to me t.b.h…
In all honesty, thinking more and more about it I’m probably going to go for a more mantra 0/6/6/2/0 type build. My biggest worries were conditions and those I can deal with more easily. I won’t be chasing down runners but then again, I don’t don’t do that now

My mobility I’m talking in combat, our of combat, “Mobility”, “Landspeed”. The ability to control every fight, any situation, because you’re fast enough to move to where you want to be and arrive when you want to be there. It’s a pretty basic concept and you could put it like this, the fastest guy wins the race. The “race” is the dominant who puts the other guy into downed state. If you have more mobility, or at least enough to counter/contend with your opponent/opponents, then you’ll both stay out of downed state and be able to determine your opponent going into it.
Traveller runes is a choice many Mesmer run, but personally I think it’ll be a huge mistake in your interrupt build. Your condi damage suffers to much, and you’re loosing the synergy interrupts provide with perplexity runes. Your call as to how you address this.
You can use superior sigil of speed to good effect just to stack swiftness high for running around. But given it’s not ‘on demand’ it’s not reliable in and of itself. It can be stripped, for one. However if you know your BL’s well there’s plenty of NPC’s with which to grab swiftness off on the go. That and, if you’re thoughtful during combat you can draw an NPC into a fight and let your opponent kill them for you, stacking high swiftness on yourself with which to run around.

Thanks for the great advice Ross.
I did some extensive testing over last few days, tried a bunch of different trait/sigil/weapon setups and I came to this conclusion: conditions just aren’t my cup of tea… After playing glassy balls to the wall zerker setups for so long, this felt so … sluggish. I would win a lot more fights and manage to escape almost any situation but it didn’t feel fun to me.
So thanks again but I’ll stick to shattering everything into oblivion
