I’m not quite sure how mimic works but I read it reflects all damage, not only projectiles.
Provided that is so – is it viable to create a build with the focus on reflecting damage instead of doing damage yourself?

Mimic works like this: when you use it, the first attack you get hit will be stored as Echo (you still take dmg for this attack), then for the remaining duration of Mimic, you will block non-projectile attacks and reflect projectiles. Mimic is now changed to Echo as you can use the stored skill as your one-time attack.
In case my explanation is not very clear. You can refer to this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mimic

And you’re basically doing nothing for the duration of the Mimic. It’s a very situational, very underwhelming Utility compared to the rest of the Mesmer Arsenal. Unless the Echo part is reworked – say you get to use a stronger projectile than you have mimicked or a totally different skill. Because in reality, Mimicking an auto attack is just meh and will happen a lot of times, trust me. You will rarely see an omg projectile that you would want to mimic and use to make a difference in battle. But the reflect portion of Mimic is good however sort of unreliable based from experience.

The idea behind the skill is great in theory but in reality, it serves no purpose. You’re better off bringing glamour fields, stunbreaks or provide better support to your team than this utter crap. Just IMO.

Mimic is interesting, when you are outnumbered, Mimic is AMAZING, especially if you find yourself under a bunch of focus fire.

It also has a very low cooldown, and lets you take a projectile from one fight, into another.

Like using a glass cannon warrior’s Killshot to one hit a thief.

25/90 never forget.

You’re talking about a build that’s based on Retaliation and Reflection. And in order to make good use of Retaliation, you need to go bunker and stacking power as main dmg stats.

Below is a build that I’ve just quickly put together to demonstrate how such a build would work but its untested and by no means optimal.

Has anyone played around with storing siege projectiles in wvw, such as mortar/cannon/golem? If it works, with Echo’s 1500 range it might be quite… interesting

Golem maybe, but you’d only get 1 rocket, so it wouldn’t do much. Mortar/cannon/ballista/treb/catapult will all activate mimc to echo (you need stability for some of those) but activating echo will do nothing.
