Can I solo dungeons with my Mesmer main?
From the dungeons I have been into,I really doubt that. (There are dungeons I haven’t been into and MAYBE some professions can do that, but I doubt there are any soloable by Mesmer)
At level 40? No. At level 80? Doubtful. Several dungeons prevent soloing due to their mechanic (e.g. Citadel of Flame path 1 requires 4 people to stand at specific locations so the 5th can go through a door that then opens and destroy a switch which jams the door open for the rest). Besides that, I’d say mesmers lack the survivability needed, so far the only class I’ve seen being able to solo a path is warrior and even then it’s enough of a feat that the the dungeon designer posted in the thread and congratulated the player on his skills.
Ahh
No worries. Thanks for the info
Are Mesmers welcome in a group? Or are they an unpopular addition.
Mesmers are always wanted for CoF path 1 farms because they can portal the group past the boulders (for now) and time-warp is useful for mini-bosses. If you’re not playing a high-dps build people might be disappointed with what you bring to the group, since other classes play support roles a lot better.
I haven’t had any problems in finding spots for my mesmer. I’m not saying that my mesmer had any high survivability, but most of the times I have been the last one standing while playing pretty much close to glass-cannon spec. (Only reason I stay alive is the fact that no mob actually attacks me if there is anyone else to mess around with
)

When you say high DPS does my condition build count? I am using MrPrometheus’ staff build which I am really enjoying as I like how it cranks ups the condition damage.

If you play your character well and dont die often anything is welcome. Do remember though that condition damage has a sort of diminishing returns on it, the more people you have with it the worse it becomes per player as there is a max limit on the amount of conditions a you can have.
Camelot Unchained is on Kickstarter.

you Never be able to solo a dungeon, game auto adjust your level remember? even you actual level 80 doing lvl 35 dungeon, you still need group,,,to do it.
I can confirm you can solo SE path 3, a lot of other dungeons cant be solo not necesary for the bosses or mobs – since you can skip a lot of them and pull them, not sure in all paths- but for some dynamics or for example the burrows in ac. Still if what you want is kill the bosses alone theres a lot and you can get some nice videos in youtube. But be ready to fail a lot before been able to do it, and the time it gonna take, also some adjustments of weapons, skills and traits that you will need for every encounter, for example i needed full interruption skills to just kill the breeder of the beggining in ac, and a lot of anticondition skills to kill the spider legendary, troll is easy and i asked guildies for the rest because i need to do the bait thing. In SE path 3 the problem is the first boss try to save the dodge and put yourself the mantra that cure condition s for the bleeding.
Just use gw2lfg.com if youre having trouble finding a group. You dont even have to talk to people if you dont want to.
Some paths can be solo’d some cannot.
For example there are a few videos of a warriors soloing arah paths.
They spent a great deal of time figuring out how to solo it as well as learning the boss mechanics so they rarely get hit enough to be downed.
So yes you can solo some dungeons, but it largely depends on your skill.

I don’t know what build that is, and while I am sure that the author will claim ‘high’ DPS I generally wouldn’t consider condition builds to fit that description. As others have said, conditions aren’t great for PvE due to the cap and this is especially true for mesmer because confusion performs much worse on mobs than it does on players. That being said, if you can use Time Warp and manage to not die then you’ll at least pass under the radar even if you’re not contributing much.
SE path 3 is definitely soloable as a mesmer, as noted above. It was the first one I did. Other soloable paths are…
CM path 3 and 1
TA Up (maybe TA Forward/Forward)
CoF path 1 can be 3 manned (or duo’d), provided you know the trick to bypass the locks and go straight to the effigy.
CoE should -never- be solo’d, because the reward is not worth the misery of alpha resetting.
Aside from TA forward/forward, those are the only paths I can confirm from personal experience that can be solo’d. I haven’t tried TA F/F, but I heard someone else did.
I’m working on soloing Arah’s Mursaat path right now. I’ve gotten up to Lupi, but there’s really no margin for error soloing that kitten, so I’m just practicing over and over. Having run the path before, I think it’s entirely possible to smartly work your way through the rest of the mobs and finish it – Just a matter of skill.
Soloing dungeons as a mesmer is definitely possible. I actually recommend and encourage people to try and solo dungeons regardless of profession! Besides the silly ones that force you to have multiple members to proceed, there’s really no better way to learn a dungeon than to solo it where you have to pay attention to everything. It’ll make you a lot better at said dungeon, and give you a ton of insight into tips and tricks you can help a party with.
Even if you fail to solo it, or come to a point that’s beyond your abilities, it’s quite the experience. And, of course, bragging rights are nice.
