So, I was just in a WvW situation where an enemy mesmer was able to pass through the gate of our tower. She somehow got through the gate, layed a portal, jumped out of the tower, and then there comes 20+ enemy through the portal. The tower was free. I was aiming an arrow cart at the very spot she entered the gate. There is no mistake she passed through the gate somehow.

I want to know. Is there an exploit that allows mesmer to pass through walls maybe with blink? That was some bull kitten.

There is some sort of exploit for passing through terrain, not exclusive to Mesmers. I don’t know how it is done, but have been the victim of it during last week’s WvW matchup where we had an enemy thief passing through terrain and gutting our towers/keeps of siege…. for approximately 8-12 hours straight two days in a row….

They might not even be passing threw anything. With simple editing of memory you can change value of gravity and jump over tower wall no problem. do it using invis and no one would know.

I doubt it was a hack. If that were the case, she could have just disappeared again after laying down the first portal inside the tower, but she did not. I actually went after her ,and she slowly walked up the stairs crippled and jumped off the side of the tower. The situation had “exploit” written all over it.

Where did the Mesmer initially come from? If they could have just passed through the wall from being outside the tower, then they could have just started their portal outside, meaning there would be no need to hobble up the stairs and jump out. However, if this Mesmer was using some sort of exploit and walking under the ground (like the thief was doing in my example), perhaps they found some part of the map where they were able to exploit into the ground, then walked under the ground to get inside the tower, then somehow surfaced and then put down the portals.

Which map was this on? That exploiting thief was doing this on Eternal Battlegrounds. If it is the same map perhaps there is some location on the map where people are able to pass through the terrain.

That sounds pretty complicated. Now that I’m more calm, I think that she must have used blink to pass through the gate while the gate was swinging. You know how the gate swings when it’s being hit? Well, if you’re using a catapult to hit a gate, sometimes while the gate is swinging the catapult projectile will actually go through the gate. That suggests that other things have a chance to pass through the gate as well. I’m going to test this out tomorrow.

Was the Mesmer downed when they entered perhaps? Mesmer downed2 is a pretty bad skill all around, but as for the random teleport that it does, this can pass through walls (or even get you stuck in walls). Perhaps the Mesmer was downed, used the downed2 skill, randomly teleported through the wall purely by luck, then was able to rally themselves… then took advantage of the situation?

As for passing through the gate when it swings from a hit.. I haven’t actually noticed this before, but I suppose it might work? I always just assumed that the door swinging from the impact was purely for looks, didn’t think it actually moved at all.

Another possibility is Staff2. Phase retreat reportedly was fixed to prevent it from getting the Mesmer stuck in or passing through walls, but perhaps it isn’t entirely working as it should atm?

As for Blink, I’ve gotten myself trapped inside uneven ground with that skill before. Perhaps it just bugged out and allowed the Mesmer to pass right through the door?

However, whatever it is, it is safe to call it a bug or an exploit. And you should rest assured that almost everyone has no idea of how to do such a thing, and even if they have done it in the past, they still may have a very hard time repeating it. It’s not so much of a “whaaaa nerf Mesmers!”, but more of a “all these Mesmer bugs are annoying, to Mesmers and non Mesmers alike!”.

This one sounds about right. I have witnessed a Mesmer do this multiple times, she left her party underneath the cliffs at Sunnyhill keep, ran up to the north wall, literally leaped onto the wall and dropped the portal for her party and then they all casually walked into the Lords room and took the tower.

When we took it back I hid on the roof where the vista is and bombed them with Izerkers when they did it the second time, they then moved onto other targets once they realised we were watching Sunnyhill!

Its more casually known as “fly hacking”.
