As disappointing as the year has been i feel obligated to make the thread and say that i am, somewhat against my will, glad and almost excited to have a light armor comprised of butterfly wings…

we do play the butterfly class after all..

anyone else looking forward to this set being completed?

you only need the shoulder piece. Nothing more nothing less. Butterflies for life.

Urgh… It’s already disturbing the amount of Mesmers that dye their entire armor with purple and end with a horrendous and exaggerated look just because… the class has a purplish theme.

Well, I can’t stand the Thief-Female-Uniform-With-Glitch-Flower-Hair already, but now we will have a massive legion of Mesmers with the same set and the same basic purple.

But that’s not a Mesmer issue. Plenty Nekros in all green/black, or just the usual four shades of green.

Now don’t get me wrong, my Mesmer’s outfit is quite … colourful.
Sea Weed, Night Iris, Bordeaux, with some slightly different shades to accommodate for the way armours display colours. So overall it looks gray-ish with a very light purple tone (the night iris displays like that on cloth) with some high-contrast turquoise and muted red accents. I need to get a picture online. I try to include the class colour, but still have actual colour schemes.

Well of course color schemes match skill colors. What fashionista would have black armor with guardian blue fire coming out all the time? What necro would match his dark green skills with bright pink?

A-net just can’t seem to design male pants well ;—; I like the chest tho.

I mean, using any other primary color could lead to it clashing terribly, and we can’t have that. I guess you could go with yellow because it’s a complementary color…but I think only female characters can make that work. When the majority of your skills are one color it doesn’t look as fabbbllloooooousssss as is should in combat.

Of course, I don’t go all purple. I’ll pick a neutral color like white, black, or even brown if the material looks leathery and make the accents purple.

I’ve used very interesting colors with my Mesmers. I’m a fan of yellows, golds and reds.

My Dry Top Sylvari is actually brown, yellow and brick-red.

You gotta be adventurous! Don’t stick with just purple. That’s easy and lazy.

Well, I am considering a combination of Glorious Armor with the HoM Balthazar gloves and a Fiery Dragon Sword. I’ll be a light class with heavy-looking armor with fire everywhere and yet I attack with purple butterflies.

I still think neutral color + purple accents can look good, especially with the right weapons.

Greens go really well with purples, but you need to pick the specific tones well.

I have purple cloth with gold or yellow frames/edges/strips. With the right customization it can make purple look very elegant and rich if I say so myself

Purple is not bad, you’ve just got to not overdo it and balance it with complementary and neutral colors.
