Just hit 80 on Mesmer. I run a zerker build for WVW (Zerg) / PVE, Before I start dropping laurels on ascended accessories, etc, Which one would be the ideal choice?

I know, You hear zerker and you automatically just say zerker of course, But would the added survivability from Cav for the minimal loss of dmg be worth it?

As it stands Im running with 15,800 hps and next to no toughness, If I get caught its insta death.

Depends on the build.

the added tough from CAV will probably help more than the slight difference in power/precision….maybe mix in a cav ring/trinket or two (without going full cav) and see when it is enough toughness for you. not a big WvW guy, but i’d generally want to have at least bout 2400 armor.

There is no reason not to run a zerker build. If you are dying the extra bit of health won’t help you, you just prolonge the issue. In the end you will die and be a worse player. Just play zerker, dodge, use your skills when necessary ( feedback, heals, berzerker, curtain, blurred frenzy etc. ) and kill the boss 30 seconds faster.

If having more toughness suits your playstyle, then get it.

I actually started off with a lot of toughness, and slowly I started to switch pieces one at a time with no toughness on it until I felt like I had the perfect amount.

If you’re serious about pve, this is the only correct answer. Added toughness in pve does not help at all. It can help in wvw, though.
