Chronomancer - Power Shatter vs Conditions?
Don’t fight up close, kite them, take the high ground advantage, dodge the shiro bullkitten, force them to mallyx, win the fight.
Edit:
Ahh, sorry. I read revenant since that’s what most people complain about.
Reaper…
My advice is pretty much the same. Don’t fight up close until you can kill them, kite them around, and take any high ground you can get.
Don’t bother with CC’ing them in shroud, unless you can pop through their initial layer of stab.

I’ve recently returned to the game, and I have spvp experience with most classes. After buying HoT, I’ve been having trouble against condition spams (specifically the Necro). I played some Scrapper & MallyX Rev n was able to counter Reapers. Then I played 100+ games with Reaper to better understand how to beat them as well.
Now I’m jumping back to my favorite class, the standard (upated HoT version) Power Shatter Mesmer and I’ve been having tons of trouble vs the condition spam that reapers dish out. If they land their conditions, I’m almost always instantly dead (I have no cleanse, resist etc.).
BTW, I’m using the Chronomancer – Power Shatter build on metabattle.com … Any tips on how to counter the typical Reaper Spam?
Thanks.
meta power shatter is not idea if you solo Q. that’s all I’m sying
If you’re stupid good you can kite them till they’re either out of LF or have used and left shroud, then burst.
Most of the time you will probably die though if full condi without the inspiration line, Dom, duelling and inspiration would be a good idea but you won’t have chrono and sadly the other two are essential for power shatter.

From experience. If you can’t kite and dodge-out the condi burst from reaper, the few cleanses from inspiration won’t save you.
Swapping portal for null field might save you, if you use it well.

If you’re running the powershatter build, it probably means you hardly have any condi cleanse. So you’re gonna want to avoid 1v1s especially against condi classes.
The build should be used as a roaming class that +1s fights and spikes enemies down quick . Don’t hang around in 2v2s and 1v1s where you opponents have a chance to land condis on you.
Helseth actually made a video about power shatter these days, and in his very charming way *cough* he kept stressing that as a power shatter Mesmer, you NEVER want fair fights. You always +1; you NEVER fight with equal forces (also no 1vs1) or even outnumbered. Unless you are 100% sure you can win the fight quickly, that is. You’re supposed to quickly burst someone down and then leave and go burst down someone else.
Granted, that might not always work if you solo-queue... well, maybe unless you’re really good at it.

That’s it.
I personally don’t care about his banter throughout, but he definitely makes good points.
But yeah, I play Power Shatter Chrono and Thief and I play them much in the same way. I leave if a fight’s going sour and give my teammate the finger if he /she got killed because they didn’t leave aswel.
Play like a scumbag really.
Oh the conditions they like to throw. Playing my Mesmer, and fighting a necro, Ugh. So I found a necro, we went into pvp, and I had him hit me with everything. I found, as soon as he hits me with fear, I pop the skill that leaves a clone, and turns you invisible.
Then he hits me with conditions, I throw Null field on myself, stealth out, then the fun begins. I will dodge and leave a clone, hit him with either my great sword, or my scepter, I carry a torch off hand, then stealth out, rinse and repeat.
Lots of stealth, along with dodge and leave a clone, and throw in blink, while I may or may not kill him, if I run across a small group, well, good luck finding me and or catching me. Won’t happen.
