Chronomancer/Raids - which amor/accessories ?

Hello everyone !

It’s been a year since I play the game and I would like to try raids now, with my sylvari chronomancer. I don’t want her to be a chronotank because apparently it is quite difficult to start raids being a tank, so I would like to DPS.

I’ve been looking at guides (especially Metabattle’s) and I decided I was going to use a sword/shield, and a staff (I used a simulator).

For the armor I’ve not decided yet, people talk a lot about assassin armor but it’s only for humans, apparently ? I’m quite new at the game even though I’ve progressed a lot, so there are some things that I don’t get sometimes ^^.

My dilemma concerns more the accessories (bagpack, rings, etc.). I don’t know what I should chose. I’m interested in buying accessories with power/precision/condi. Tell me if I’m wrong or not. Also, there are some accessories with power/precision/vitality/ferocity (Vine of the Pale Tree), that I find interesting but I don’t know if it’s a good idea.

So, my questions are, should I go full power/precision/condi or are there other stats that I should choose (or am I completely wrong xD ?) ? And what armor should I wear ?

I hope I’m clear enough, sorry for the potential mistakes,

Siabair

Staff is trash for pve especially raids. You should be using the baseline meta build sword/shield, with an off hand sword on weapon swap sword’s 3rd AA chain rips boons and #3 has an immobilise which is why it is superior in raids, also any swordsmen also rip boons on their AA chain, which makes off hand sword superior in some situations. The only other weapon you should be using is off hand focus when necessary to pull mobs together/away from the team.

Vitality is useless in pve too because DPS, killing bosses before they enrage and dodging their mechanics instead of taking them is optimal, and you don’t want to be playing condi if you are just starting raiding, condi is situational in raids.

Use the baseline build which is support but reaches the highest DPS with 100% boon duration: https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Chronomancer_-_Tank/Support_Sword/x

Weapons not used in raiding as mesmer:

- Staff
- Greatsword
- Pistol (except as condition damage build on 2 raids bosses)

Go and read through the metabattle guides (or better quantify guides for raiding http://qtfy.eu/builds/ ). They are quite clear on which stats work on gear for raids and which weapons to use.

Sorry to say, but as far as raids go, if you are unexprienced you are best off starting with a metabuild and get to know the class from there.

Also don’t buy trinkets. Get them as ascended versions off of the Living World Season 3 maps.

This is reasonable.

so I would like to DPS.

This is not. Mesmer dps only works well on 2 or 3 bosses and it’s a very specific condition damage setup. No other mesmer dps build is even remotely worthwhile, so don’t bother. Outside of those 2 or 3 specific bosses, mesmer condition damage dps isn’t even remotely worthwhile either. The build you need to be running is a buffing support chronomancer setup that you can find here: http://qtfy.eu/build/mesmer. Ideally you’ll want to run domi/insp.
