Clarification about Feedback mechanics
If both players inside feedback → reflect
If one player is inside and other outside → reflect
If both players outside but opponent shoots thru feedback bubble → reflect

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could clarifiy some mechanics for me with the Feedback utility skill. I understand that it creates a dome that reflects projectiles, but does the reflection only apply to people “inside” the bubble? Or does it also apply to people “outside” the bubble as well?
So for instance, if I were to cast feedback on someone in melee range and put myself inside the bubble while a ranged class outside the bubble was shooting at me, would those ranged attacks get reflected back to the attacker? Or does the reflection only apply if the ranged attacker was inside the bubble trying to shoot someone outside it?
Thanks!
Feedback creates a spherical zone of projectile reflecting space. Any enemy projectiles that contact any part of that spherical zone will be reflected.
much appreciated for the quick responses!
The fact that it reflects anything that touches the “sphere of doom” is why feedback is SO powerful right now in WvW. The current meta is mostly based on ranged attacks, so throwing a feedback on a group that is stacked will normally down at least a few players since it takes several autoattacks for people to realize there is a feedback there.
Mesmer – FURY
Rank 55 – Bunker Engi, Top 300
Actually I would say the current meta of wvw is mele train + ranged NON-projectile support in the back. Several auto attacks should never down a player.
IMO, anyone using a projectile weapon in a zerg is probably a random and not a representation of “meta.” The exception being staff on eles/necros but they tend to spam the aoes not the projectiles auto attacks.

Hm, I don’t know… I’ve actually never seen Feedback doing that much in WvW. People move out of it way too fast (not like everyone’s standing still during a fight), and also they’re usually only standing really close to eachother at the beginning of a fight… and while re-stacking and healing up with waterfield-blasts. But during the latter, they don’t attack you, and the beginning of a fight isn’t a beginning for very long. So yeah, in my experience, feedback usually ends up being not nearly as useful as I would wish it would be.
Maybe I was just unlucky, though.

When defending a keep/tower in WvW, you can position yourself inside the keep just far enough to the gate so that when you use Feedback it covers the gate. Great defensive strategy.
Feedback is just about one of the most powerful spells in wvw currently any class can field. It has to be used properly though. As mentioned wvw meta is all about which melee train works better. Whoever gets into the enemy’s back-line first or gets the first kills wins mostly due to chain rallies.
What does this have to do with feedback? Simple, behind every melee train is a ranged damage train of way more squishy targets “tagging along”. Feedback completely shuts-down ranged damage in chokes and can buy time or force repositioning in open field combat.
Things to watch out for:
1.) careful not to place feedback right on top of your melee train. it will interfere with water and fire fields reducing the melee trains effectiveness
2.) placing a feedback on a big crowded group of enemy ranged damage will reduce their effectiveness and force them to reposition. Use this to your advantage to get tags on enemys and support your melee train.
3.) a feedback placed in a choke will shutdown ALL ranged damage that can be reflected. I’ve had commanders on teamspeak shout orders along the lines of “move up to the feedbacks” or order mesmers to drop max range feedback fields in chokes to help advance
4.) during sieg, watch out for people poking out from behind those walls, wait for them to be in los, then drop a iberserker and a feedback field on top of them right as they are about to shoot. watch them run back with half life or less or even die if multiple people had that idea. That elementalist will love finishig off any downed on the walls with his aoe fields
5.) while damaging gates, try to “read” the situation right. Sometimes a feedback right on top of a gate is good, sometimes it’s bad. It’s good if there is only slight damage and you want to annoy some defenders. It’s bad when it over wrights water fields needed for healing the melees. Use with caution
