Cleansing Conflagration Trait
Both Cleansing Conflagration and Malicious Sorcery have always felt out of place to me.
Maybe swap Cleansing Conflagration with Chaotic Interruption. Next make Malicious Sorcery an adept trait and swap with Masterful Reflection which would then become a master trait so might need a buff (Distortion grants reflection and 5 secs of Swiftness – yay more Mesmer speed).
Just a suggestion. Might clean things up a little.
Honestly, I feel like even that would make Masterful Reflection off. Maybe if it was like 2s reflection for each 1s of distortion.
It’s way out of place. Mesmer traits are obviously an unfinished product, but, I’m not even sure why it was put there in the first place. Maybe so GC builds can get a condition removal? But so few of those would use a torch anyway.

I actually love having the torch trait where it is, giving myself more power and thus more burst for my surprise Prestige into Blurred Frenzy combo. It’s a lot of fun, as my weapon choice appears defense until I start bursting through health bars.
Think outside the box guys, that’s why we’re mesmers eh? ~

Sometimes, there is a reason people made that box in the first place. Since the phantasm is so awful, you basically trade your phantasm + another utility for a mediocre stealth alone, when the same effect can be achieved by just slotting decoy if you really want it.

But by that logic you’re saying there should only be a set basic way of playing and setting things up, whereas there may be people who think more creatively. The phantasm is underwhelming I’ll give you that (my illusions don’t stick around long enough for me to care), but having another access to stealth (and condition removal) and an aoe burst to compliment shatters aoe + illusionary persona’s aoe with a little blurred frenzy in there I can assure you isn’t something to sneeze at. Then use decoy or blink, or staff #2 to bounce around the fight (to find a new victim) or to escape if need be, and you’ve got yourself a very tricky mesmer.
Obviously I’m not saying that it’s the best set up out there, I’m just saying that there are more creative ways of using what we have then just hitting things with GS #1.
In my condition/confusion set up I put points in the domination line, since there is a trait for glamours causing more confusion that is wondrous with my condition build. Just more ways to break out that mold you’re setting up for yourself.
Here’s one explanation. Domination grants condition duration. Torch 4 inflicts blind and burning, both of which benefit from bonus duration. iMage inflicts confusion. Given, the iMage is broken and doesnt benefit from the casters condition duration, but it’s meant to.
Either way, yes, if there’s a better place to put things, put them there.

yeah, it’s weird. burning (the prestige) and confusion from the mage (as if anyone cared about this phantasm) do combo with condition duration and the cripple on clone’s death also relate to with the invisibility of the prestige. But meeh.
