So there comes a time and a place when people have to come out of the closet. And I guess today is my moment: I love my Mesmer but it’ll be a cold day in hell before I give him any purple clothes
Seriously, for a class that’s so different in how it plays, which usually attracts the more creative players, most Mesmers are just so uninspired in how they dress their characters. Virtually no other class has achieved the ‘Oh he’s purple, probably a Mesmer’ clothes = class status that Mesmers have managed to secure within the game.
You can just imagine the cogs in their minds turning: ‘Mmmm the spells I use are purple. My interface is purple. You know what, I’ll make myself look like the bad guy from Titanic wearing purple spandex.’
So today I’m coming out of the closet. I have a Mesmer and he is and will forever stay green and orange. There! It’s been done! The truth is out in the open! Now I do realise that this means I won’t be welcome any more in the Purple Mesmer Night Clubs and bars but that’s just a price I’ll have to pay for going rogue
my mesmer is purple, i mean midnight purple, i love purple, every character has some purple in the armor. but the main colour is midnight blue with a tarnished silver detail :p but yea i used a bit purple in the armor beceaus i’m mesmer :p but not full most is the blue the purple then the silver :p

I like purple, but I refuse to use pink!
My mesmer uses abyss and white, then again she’s kinda got the whole dom outfit going on (seems many mesmer use this outfit, bit I like it) for the time being
While I have purple on my clothes, I should add that purple is my favourite colour IRL, and was actually influential in choosing my class. So it’s that way around.
That being said, I use Night Iris Purple, which is a very gray-ish tone, together with a sea-green matching the sea-green hair colour you can only get from the hair-redo kit, and some deep red to match the facial markings from the necromancer-trickster-mask.
Rounding it off are Nightmare weapons with their pink colour. Though I would love to replace these long-term, I have yet to find a decent weaponskin I truly like. Jade Dragon looks fluffy enough, though.

I had my purple phase. Midnight Fuschia on Embroidered stuff at lower levels. Even had a purple glow. Always had my eye on a combination of ‘skin’-matched sylvari T2/T3, though (white glow now thanks to a makeover kit).
I probably look terrible to other worlds in Wv3 due to enemy coloring, but meh. It remains ambiguous. Purple gives a mesmer away, and I don’t want people to run right away. ;p

My current idea for my Mesmer (he’s level 27) will be to use a mix of Sylvari racial armour, Honor of the Wave token items and possibly the headpiece from CoE (the cap with the monocle is quite nice).
It’s not that people think “I’m a Mesmer so I must dye my gear purple”. It’s that in order to even PLAY a Mesmer you have to be comfortable with the colors Purple/Pink (never mind butterflies) since all of our spell effects are that theme
Every Mesmer is a player who likes or doesn’t mind purple, so the frequency of purple dyed armor is quite understandable.
I made a Sylvari mesmer named Aint Ez Being Green, so her base skin color is green. However, with purple “hair” and glowing tattoos, this sorta limits what colors look ok. Also, when you have cultural armor, orchid dye just seems like a common sense choice. However, I’ve also thrown in pyre dye as well for a tropical flower exploding in butterflies look.
I also think most mesmers were drawn to the class because of the fluff first and that means they usually are ok with or drawn to the purple. It is also the color of royalty =)

It’s just a piece of transmuted level 40 crafted gear from tailoring – Acolyte Mask – coloured with Purple Tint. One of the few mask headpieces which I like and which works with the mushroom hat!
I’m in total opposition of this post because my outfit, powers and weapons have to have the same color scheme! I WANT my enemies to know I’m a mesmer! I WANT them to see me coming a mile away! I WANT them to be fully prepared! That way, when I wax their kitten and dust their drawls, they will have NO EXCUSES!
