So I decided to try something new and made a Mesmer. Read into the skills, made a build, and went into sPvP. Went to cast the Feedback bubble or whatever, and was like WHAT THE HELL!? It made no sense to me. It is an ability that reflects projectiles. So I thought, sounds nice. I can reflect back attacks while casting ranged attacks of my own. BUT IT CAST THE BUBBLE OVER THE ENEMY!? Am I missing something here? Like if they are in the bubble does it still reflect the attack back to them? Or is this ability only meant to be used on an oponent in melee range to protect you from outside projectile attacks from his allies?

Think of it in reverse.

The Feedback bubble gets put ON something. And anything inside the Bubble, while shooting projectiles, get’s the projectiles reflected back to them. So they can’t shoot out of it. But you can still shoot into it.

It doesn’t really make sense logistically, but that’s how it works.

Ok. I was wondering if it did reflect projectiles fired from inside the bubble as well. Still, seems like such a silly skill. Instead of safe bubble of reflection around you and allies, you put a small bubble around an enemy that can just side-step out of it?

Potentially yeah. The idea is to use it on rapid-fire type attacks, or in large WvW zergs from/onto walls, where people have no choice but to shoot projectiles sometimes. The bubble is actually a fair bit bigger than you might think and often hard to get out of, pending the situation. Even if it does no damage, in WvW if a zerg isn’t organized, it works as a good means to make them spread out when they all try to get out of it in different directions.

It’s also incredibly useful in a lot of dungeons (Arah comes to mind) to reflect certain mobs/boss abilities (sometimes for near insta kills). It’s actually a pretty fun skill, I have a hard time taking it off my bar most times.

Ok then. Guess I just have to get out of the midset of typical reflect abilities and give it a shot.

The other way to think of it as a guards wall of reflection. Normally once I have cast it I ensure that at least one side of the bubble is between myself and my enemy, Often I run into the bubble when they leave it so as to maintain this. A lot of people forget that just because they run out of the bubble doesn’t mean it stops reflecting enemy attacks.
That way you are still getting the use of the bubble. I think, not sure on this, but I think, you can cast this skill on an ally. If not I have cast it on a white enemy that we were on top of right before we ran into a pug zerg. Works wonderfully in this situation.

It reflects enemy ranged attacks trying to be shot out from within, and also reflects enemy ranged attacks trying to be shot in from without.

Amusing when placed on chokepoints. Was hilarious before the Confusion nerf…

You could always walk into the bubble yourself too if you want to be protected. Your projectiles will still function normally in the Feedback Field.

Medic’s Feedback (Inspiration Trait I) automatically puts the bubble on you and your allies when you’re reviving people, but ONLY when you’re actually reviving someone downed / dead.
