I’ve been playing GW2 for about three or four months now, though admittedly much less in the past month. My friend quit because of how weak his necro felt in WvW, and without someone to play with, I did the same not long after.
Now with the patch he’s wanting to come back and play again. Unfortunately, due to the Mesmer changes, I’m not sure how to salvage my build in a way that makes it work with a condition necro.
Currently, I’m a ‘Prestige’ mesmer, which is basically a clone death build that relies heavily on stealth to turn the clones into fodder which then explode on the enemy:
My build
The gear isn’t exactly what I’m using, currently, but it’s a rough approximation. With the new patch, I lose the 20% clone cooldown that this build really needs. The 20% faster clones was sort of the linchpin of this build in terms of offense, utility, and defense. It makes my stun breakers, my clone offense, my utility (immobilize, stealth), my defense (phase retreat) slower. It was never really overpowered or FoTM, given its lack of stopping power, but it was a lot of fun to play. Now I’m significantly less enthusiastic about it.
Is there any way that I can salvage this build for duo with a necro? I can swap out mirror images for veil, which is what I’d normally do in a group, but beyond that I can’t see much that it could contribute to a necro duo. It seems like I’m going to have to start re-gearing and re-building my character now, which is disheartening.
I really don’t want to go shatter build, but it seems like that’s what ANet is pushing us toward. Mantra or interrupt still isn’t really viable, and now Clone death took a hit with the last patch. Raw condition might be viable, but staff conditions aren’t the most impressive, especially because of that useless vulnerability in there. Confusion seems kind of meh these days, especially given that we don’t have any consistent way to apply it outside of shatter builds.
Thoughts?
