I am looking into a feasibility of a Torment Mesmer using the synergy of:

Superior Sigil of Torment (30% on Crit to AOE Torment w/ 7 sec cool down)
Superior Rune of Tormenting:
(1): +28 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
(2): 15% Torment.png Torment Duration
(3): +55 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
(4): 15% Torment.png Torment Duration
(5): +100 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
(6): 15% Torment.png Torment Duration and AoE 2 Stacks of Torment.png Torment on Heal (20s cooldown)

So the weapon would fuel a steady set of torment to armor.
Of course it would need decent Precision to kick it off and I guess Rabid Armor, Weapons, and Trinkets?

My thought is the combination of Confusion and Torment will keep the opponent unable to move or attack ( all on paper of course)

I am NOT a WvW nor a PVE player, but would like to get into it. I appreciate any constructive criticism and especially any advice to improve the idea.

Most of all I would like to know if this idea could work at all before I spend the resources to buy it. Especially since Mesmer’s are not know for condition builds.

Not quite. He’s using sword/pistol scepter/torch, but he does have the same 20/20/30 and the same domination and dueling traits, along with PU and debilitating dissipation.

He’s got torment runes obviously as well.

i use it with glamour hybrid build and tormenting sigils in wvw and its pretty effective like that. i see torment popping everywhere now.works great with triforce too

i think for mesmer perplexity rune is far better than torment rune as torment block is passive skill so only the sigil is good which give 1-2 stacks

I made the switch to Torment Sigil for my Glamour build, but Rune wise Perplexity offers more in zerg play:

To shut down confusion you do not attack. To palatially shutdown torment you do not move (even so they take damage)
Movement is vital in WvW and will be especially deadly on fleeing or charging foes where confusion does no damage.

I’ve been running that build for 5 days now (but with sigil of torment on sword and scepter as you suggested) and I’ve been winning 90% of the 1v1 fights Even that latest warr build condition/heal/immo? with longbow and 1h sword? . There is just one class I’ve had trouble with,and that’s the mesmer class lol. Full rabid gear as you say with scepter/torch Sword/pistol and torment runes. Same build as the one I quoted. I’ve even won some 1v2 and 1v3 fights but they must¨ve been bad players though since I’m not considering myself as a good player But definitely viable for roaming

However I can’t give up Traveler runes. Ever.

You could just have a focus in your inv. as I do Though it’s not as fast as T runes overall :P

I did that for a long time. I am over that now.
