Condition damage?
For a condition type mesmer building confusion will be your main type of attack the other conditions are still usful but just not as reliable. In terms of armor i think the best stats to go for are
power: it does add a small amount of condition
vitality: extra health
conditions damage: no need to explain
If your a tailor or have the money for it the carrion armors have all these stats
As for a conditions build i would recomend this one as it can build confusion easily:

“Condition” Mesmers are at least one of three things that I know of so far.
Sharper Images + High Precision and Condition Dmg
Confusion Builds
Staff Builds
Note, there can be and likely will be overlap.
Sharper Images along with multi-attack Clones or Phantasms are our main source of Bleeds. 1-H.Sword and G.Sword Clones both can wrack up bleeds rather quickly if you high a +50% crit rate. I.Duelist and I.Warden both can hit a high number of bleeds as well, with just one use of their multi-hitting attacks. (Precision and Condition Dmg favored, with one other stat)
Confusion Builds need the Condition Dmg to actually make Confusion hurt. They also focus on Condition Duration, which sadly does not affect conditions from Clones, but greatly benefit Confusion. Sadly, this build is not too popular in PvE at the moment with how slow bosses can sometimes attack and the initially low dmg value of Confusion. (Condition Dmg and Duration favored).
Staff Builds get quite a chunk of their damage from the Conditions the auto-attack throws out, along with the Staff Clones. It also usually combines in Illusionary Elasticity for a double-tap of Winds of Chaos on solo targets while giving oneself a boon as well. (Power, Vitality, Condition Dmg favored)

Thank you for this information. How can swords and greatswords rack up bleed? I have seen a short bleed on a rune once but is that how?
Edit; you are talking about the phantasms ok misunderstood.

Not Swords and G.Swords directly, but rather through their Clones.
15 trait points in Illusions gives you Sharper Images. Sharper Images makes Clones and Phantasms pass out a Bleed(4s) when they crit. As Clones and Phantasms share your Crit rate (Precision), and Phantasms can possibly get Fury from the 10 Illusion trait, they can crit quite often.
1-H Sword and G.Sword innately don’t have the ability to pass out Bleeds, so the Bleed conditions won’t come from you directly, but rather from your Clones & Phantasms. You could use a Superior Sigil of Earth, so you can pass out a Bleed yourself when wielding a 1-H Sword or G.Sword but I’ve never found it to be worth it in comparison to an extra 5% crit chance or another Sigil.

Just to clarify, sharper images and fantasmal fury are in the duel tree, not the illusion one.
Condition build Mesmer are awesome. I was a bit turned off from the class after playing one for a bit, but a friend showed me this vid and I’m maining one now lol.
The idea of a condition build Mesmer is also pretty interesting imo. I was going to just build power like I do for every other class I play, and I was kind of bummed, because I wanted something different. After watching this vid, and learning that condition builds are actually really strong (I was also joking with my friend about making a condition build Mesmer, because I was under the impression they had no good condition spells), and playing as one for 12 levels, it really is an amazing build, and it’s a lot of fun to play as. Obviously I’m not getting the full benefits of a full condition build yet, as I’m only level 12 and don’t have any good armor/accessories/rings/runes yet, but I’m actually doing really good in PvE, a lot better then my Ele ever did.
Confusion build (condition damage) mesmer in wvw 1v1, 1v2, etc.
Will post build if people are interested along with signet/rune armor choices.
