So if I coordinate with a Necro I can supply a group with 25 stacks of confusion and the initial guy will have already blown their cleansing? Sounds like something nerfed a day after. :P
How would you balance this?

The confusion only lasts for as long the channel lasts, right?
Maybe 10 stacks for 1-2 second would be more… humane.
This skill already has a huge windup time…. Interesting idea.

Hrm, that’s an interesting idea. 5s channel, 25 stacks Confusion for 1s, unaffected by +conditionduration items, 5 ticks, one each second.

Your necro will only be spreading 25 stacks of confusion for 1 second to the entire group.

How would you balance this?
The way I would balance this is: Confusing images no longer damages enemy and no longer cleaves. This way, enemies will not feel forced to attack the mesmer in a 1v1 situation.
CI is no longer a passive debuff and it now plays an active role in shutting down players.

If it’s just one second.. why not just interrupt the target?
I want it to make sense right away, then another sense later. Murkiness =/= quality "

Because it would be 1s of confusion each second of channeling, so 3s at most. More like a daze, then, but the target still has the choice of powering through it, or LoS/range it.

Different flavor of CC and that current Confusing Images is just lacking.

0 damage?
So in my condition/crit setup I’m potentially loosing 3k’s or more worth of attack/crit damage on top of the ongoing confusion damage I’ve stacked?
I’ll pass. Nice idea though.

vs. a nice new noob killer skill and 3 second indirect CC, I’ll take that over yours.

The beam actually hits quite hard in a power build, not counting the confusion. IMO the problem with scepter has always been the auto attack. I quite like the other 2 abilities.

Having it strictly pure condition weapon would make opponents know what type of mesmer they’re facing right off and would forced power mesmers who need a MH range to be using just their offhand. It also doesn’t allow flexibility, like how other weapons are.
I agree with Heinel that the autoattack chain is the issue with the scepter. I like that it can do both power and condition damage. Nice idea, but I’d hate to be pigeon-holed to specific category because of a mainhand.
