How much better would it be if confusion weren’t just another spammable condition that the horribly OP condition spammers can abuse? Imagine a confusion mechanic that actually locks down an opponent if done properly, or punishes them for reacting? Why is confusion based on condition damage?

Confusion should be a well placed, and well timed pre-emptive strike, not just something engi’s spam whenver it’s off cooldown or something that mesmers keep up 2-3 stacks all the time. Not something that a hammer warrior or interupt thief can keep 18 stacks permanently with the new OP runes.

The current version is fine, but

  • Add an internal CD for the runeset
  • Increase duration for PvE by 100%

I’ll just repeat my response to a Perplexity thread over in the WvW Discussion section.

  1. An icd is an option.
  2. Lowering the applied stacks from 6/6 is also an option.
  3. For that matter, transforming the confusion-on-interrupt to extra confusion damage is an option.

Honestly, I’d vote for either the second or third options. At least the second allows for AoE usage. Failing that, the third simply makes the Runes strengthen pre-existing Confusion usage. Either way, the +Confusion Duration needs patched, for sure.
