Q:

Sorry I don’t really play a mesmer and this may be an incredibly stupid question as far as this forum is concerned, but the confusion caused by being hit by a feedback reflected projectile is:
A) Affected by the Mesmer who cast Feedback’s condition duration.
B) Affected by the originator of the projectiles condition duration.
C) All of the above (lol I doubt it)
D) Unaffected by any condition duration.

I only ask because it seems the conditions caused by projectiles reflected by a Guardians Wall of Reflection SEEM to be affected by the Guardians condition duration as opposed to the originator of the projectile.

A:

When an attack hits feedback, it now becomes your attack in all ways. This is the effect responsible for strange things like teleporting to necros, or getting rifle kills on your Mesmer. As such, the condition damage and duration associated with the attack are yours, being applied to the normal base duration of a confusion stack from an ethereal combo finisher.

Edit: @Kazhiel: Non-projectile finishers will not, of course, combo with feedback. Reflecting combo finishers will.

Just to clear up I assume you mean confusion/conditions caused by the projectile, assuming it is a projectile that causes a condition (ie. Engineer’s Static Shot) – feedback itself does not inherently causes any conditions.

Given that most relevant abilities (ie. retaliation, dark path etc) treat the mesmer as the origin of the reflected projectile, it seems logical that A is true, but I’d want to double check to be sure, that’s not a known just a logical extrapolation of how reflected projectiles are handled

If there’s confusion thru feedback it’s not from the enemies reflected projectiles, it’s from an ally (or iduelist) shooting a projectile thru the ethereal field or warden doing its whirly dance. Projectiles thru any ethereal field cause confusion. And warden’s whirly deal for some reason. Leaps thru the field give chaos armor and a blast finisher gives aoe chaos armor.

I don’t think you guys are understanding the OP’s question. When a projectile is reflected with Feedback, the reflected projectile combos with the Ethereal Field. This means that if the enemy’s shot is reflected and hits, they also gain a stack of confusion from the projectile combo.

I don’t normally run condition duration gear, so I haven’t tested it explicitly, but I would expect that answer is (A).

But the numbers I see from an untraited feedback aren’t purple and therefore not from confusion but just the reflected projectile itself

Thank you very much, this is what I was projecting but did not want to operate under false assumptions.

I’m aware of what combo fields and finishers are, however as someone else pointed out the projectile becomes yours – and thus combos with the field provided by Feedback (if it is in fact a projectile finisher) and applies a stack of confusion. Provided ofc the % chance is met (as most projectile finishers do not have 100% chance).
