Confusion officially dead in wvw after patch
This effectively take away our main build “Glamour” that deals with large groups of people. Our other builds, though freakn sweet mind you, to me at least seem more based around solo and small raid groups. Even with the healing mantra and mantra cool down I simply don’t see use being of much use in zergy situation anymore. Not that I ever participated or ran up again zergs since my internet can’t handle it and I just lag out anyway.
Wvw confusion was balanced around pve mobs that attack once every 3-4 seconds. The fact that its pve version worked against players in pvp was not fair. That being said, I can understand that people would want to see the pvp version stronger, but it’s still a change that makes perfect sense.

Yes, it’s not like Glamour skills have any other uses.

You can’t be seriouse! It’s kitten weak in pve. I don’t think any mesmer plays with a confusion build in pve. And for wvw.. I don’t think it’s overpowered. Yes it is nice for “tagging” enemies to farm them all, but it usually gets cleansed so fast you barely do more dmg than what is needed to tag people. Maybe that is because I usually fight against coordinated groups and not so much against a brainless blob. But taking the only viable aoe build from the mesmer and nerving it way too much is stupid. Nobody would have complained it they nerved it to 75%. The build would still have been viable and not op at all. What I notice is that players die instantly by confusion + reflection and just killing themselfs with their own attacks. But brainless Zerg afking shouldn’t be further encouraged anyway.
I don’t really think that you have ever played a wvw glamour mesmer. Or maybe you are in a tier with people that don’t know anything about wvw. Either way: glamour wasn’t as overpowered to justify a 50% nerv.
This is really just stupid. For solo duels and very small groups the mesmer has phantasm and shatter builds. For group play it ha reflects and confusion. Now we don’t have any viable wvw group builds anymore. When I’m running with my guild ill have to use any of the other races now, as I don’t want to be a veil and portal kitten, but want to do SOME dmg at least.
I really hope that they aren’t gonne use the 50%. That would just be planet
stupid.
May your wits and swords stay sharp.

I never said there wasn’t I use them without the confusion in my Phantasm Build for Fractals just saying that it took out, to me at least, viable mass zergy build. ^^
I’m pretty sure that the missile reflection of feedback did more damage to a zerg than the actual 2-4 confusion stacks of the glamour build. But it sure was a great way of tagging zergs & making bags ^^
Can we at least please increase our ability to stack other conditions to compensate for the confusion nerf?
I’m another one who has gone through the trouble and expense of kitting out completely in Rabid gear. It cost a lot more than gearing up a power build. Now I wish I hadn’t spent so much time and gold on it.
4/30 = shelved mesmer and ele
Guess I’m going to finally level a thief.

Lol, you know it’s bad when it drives someone to leveling a thief.

Guess it was bad for me a while ago. Levelled/tricked my (evasion/tank) Thief out a while ago.
I just hope that ANet helps out the Condition Mesmer a bit. Prob with Confu is that it is the main Condition we can reliably toss out. Even knocking Vuln offa WoC would help a good bit. Sharper Images/Superior Earth rocks for Bleeds, but that (and our chance of Burning) relies heavily on Clones living for a bit. Now, look at a Condition Engi…sure, this bones Prybar/Static/Confu-bomb spreads, but the profession can still plant a slew of Conditions on your behind.
Meh. Almost makes me wish I blew those other 2 Ascendeds on my Thief or Necro.
Almost. I’ll see what happens with this whole bit, I may have to experiment a bit more
with Mantras or a Blurred Signets spread.

Out of the three squishy, zip around avoiding hits professions, it’s the one that I have left.
Honestly, I’m still playing my Ele while levelling the thief. It was more the repetitive nature of D/D ele that lead me to work on another character than the recent nerfs.
And I still keep eyeing my Mesmer at the login screen and thinking I should kit her out in power gear at some point.
Gonna need an extra bank tab, though, so I can store my full set of exotic Rabid gear in the hopes that some day I’ll have a reason to go condition Mesmer again.

i actually created a thief and named it “my class after patch”, missed my mesmer though and went back…guess can’t stay away from it for more than 24 hours….
but gotta say that i do miss confusion a lot and all because people wanted to keep spamming their poor keyboard(hopefully they don’t have to write down any math figures with those keyboard as 1 and 2 are definitely worn out..

I thought Anet has quality devs … but this confusion nerf just shows you exactly where they are i.e. caring about $ aka new players and don’t really play the game and understand the skillset.
Confusion was nothing more than a condition .. a dangerously one at that and good for tagging. I seriously doubt 1 mesmer could just kill off the zerg with it. And if they meant what 10 mesmers could do, they could always set an upper limit. 10 eles could probably blow a zerg as well.
I am disgusted at the poor quality of the devs here … like some kind of junior devs or something. GW2 is going down the drain.

If this is true then confusion was never suppose to be a real skill, just something that looks enticing but is quickly abandoned.
RIP confusion. I miss it so.
well all people had to know it that if u spam buttons like crazy of course confusion will hurt.
so when u got 25 stacks u might not wanna do this

Well, it’s beating a dead horse, I guess, but yes, as I and many others have said before, it’s decisions like these that make you wonder how much the AN team actually play their own game. I know some of them do play it SOME, but do they play it on a regular basis and often? And do they regularly play ALL the professions? I have my doubts.
Mesmers are still very viable in pve and pvp, but they’ve been really crippled as far as wvw goes. Power builds just don’t cut it, except maybe in some smaller skirmishes. But in the kind of zerg vs zerg fighting that one now regularly encounters in wvw, if you’re running with your guildmates, trying to throw out a bunch of clones into an oncoming zerg just doesn’t cut it. And the scepter #1 ability is too slow, and Greatsword doesn’t let you hit anyone on a wall and has too many line of sight issues, and on top of that you can only hit up to three people – and so on and so on. Bottom line is we just don’t have any long-range aoe damage now, and what we’re left with is too limited in large battles. So…that leaves a support build. I don’t have any problem with taking up a support build, I actually enjoy it, but because of still further bad design by AN, you won’t get xp or loot playing a support build – or not nearly as much. So any way you turn now with the mesmer, it just isn’t ideal for wvw. Your team mates will still want you around for your portals and the invisibility (which has a very limited effectiveness in many situations because it’s so short, especially since they got rid of culling), but other than that…meh. I mainly play wvw, so I’m not finding the class much fun these days. In fact, I rarely play the class at all any more.

Confusion is like SS in gw1, you made builds around it and you should be able to do the same in gw2.
