Hi!
I just started playing WvW lately but I am trying to figure out tactics against a Thief’s stealth.

So far my standard game plan is to fill the area with plenty of illusions. Meanwhile, I will wait to dodge the first attack. If I notice the theif attacks the wrong target, I will try to cast moa morph as quickly as possible.

Otherwise, im pressing “nearest target” for stun but I can barely stop the theif from disappearing again lol.

What are your tactics?

Confusion and AoE… Remember they are still there, just invisible so get creative.

Confusion is stupidly powerful in WvW and will down unsuspecting Thieves in an instant. Stealthing after the Thief stealths is also useful: roll out a few Clones with Deceptive Evasion while stealthed to lure the Thief into wasting their initiative. Chaos Storm on self or Chaos Armour are good for dampening a Thief’s burst if you cannot avoid it.

shadow refuge>chaos storm,switch to focus,double cast focus #4: they’ll receive a lot of conditions and will be pulled outside
Any other stealth: show your Prestige(torch #4)

The main counter to thief stealth is your illusions, actually. As soon as your target leaves stealth, the illusions will follow and attack again. You can use them like bloodhounds in this manner.

Best counter against stealth is.. Stealth. Decoy and Mass Invisibility. The new Prismatic Understanding is quite good too, though few people use it in favor of Shattered Strength.

Takes timing, but Illusionary Persona backing up Cry of Frustration can do the trick.
Especially when CoF is traited to pack Retal. CoF, dodge roll, pop clones/phants = shred stealth/confuse the frack outta a Thief.

I find it easy to rust run around to waste their stealth, but also be very focused to make a dodge if I see I take any damage, also I cast chaos storm, if I find it able to use. Also confusions is the way I deal with thief’s seem to always work.
