Cripple / swistness problem on Wvwvw
Isn’t it obvious Anuxdei? They want you to use cripple to slow your opponents to prevent them from running. Of course this means you need to use your focus as an OH and/or GS. Focus is terrible unless you fight a baddie that will sit onto of your phantasm and GS has been nerfed into the ground due to much crying and “fixes” that were unintentional but will never be reversed.
Welcome to GW2, you play a mesmer. Get used to it. Things are going to get bumpy…er.
Try some runes of the centaur. With a focus off hand you can kept swiftness up almost all the time.

Centaur rune s are the only option, I just can’t play without them now. With near perma swiftess, blink, pistol stun, sword 3 cripple/immob/teleport (when it works), berserker cripple (when it works..) catching chasers is very easy. But it is very reliant on those runes. You could use focus of course but it’s no where nar as good as those runes.

This is real problem that we’re facing , other classes have mayt chance to speed up even some classes have traits works passive with ita skills … And we must use our runes for stupid but hard need swiftness , what is the logic on this , i want a answer from developers really what are they thinking or are they have any information about this ?
i’d say its balance… we (mesmers) are nearly impossible to kill. now imagine other classes couldn’t even run away from us… it would be too easy and boring.

Killing a perma-stealth thief is next to impossible, but …
When was the last time you successfully ran away from a thief?
When was the last time you successfully killed a thief who wanted to run away?
Or was your comment trying to be ironic?

I will not join the debate about speed of other classes or lack of speed on our, what I will do thu is give a few tips that work for me and help alot both in escape and chase downs.
1- : Staff 2 + blink + pistol “Sprint Attack”.
Chasing: Simply mark a npc thats is behind the target you chasing, blink max range towards enem but in front of the npc, instant hit staff 2 for a 2nd blink towards enemy and swap to pistol, now cripple or stun depending on whats best for the situation. You can cower a great area by this and I supriced many swiftness classes by suddenly catch up with em.
2- : Staff chaosfield, staff 2 + blink escape.
Make sure you mark enemy that chase you, land a chaos field in front of you, when you reach it hit staff 2 to blink away form enemy, get a chaos armour and often a block boon. Now insta hit blink at max range on a position that place the chaos field between you and enemy. Tis will force him to run thru a chaos field or around it, get hit by 1 (mabye more) staff clones + you got a great deal of distance. Soon you can staff 2 again.
3 – Portals. This is the ultimate escape and attack tool in wvwvw. Using the escape I described above but also hit a portal in mid of chaos field will hide it. When you running and hit 2nd staff 2 and if enemy start catch up you can portal behind him for attack or run away. If you pla the fight you can force enemy flee towards a direction you have a portal to kill him (often seen in my videos if anyone interested).
4 – Rune of air/centaur. Yes you can complain that the game force us to use a special kind of runes but still you can turn it and say "how lucky we are that there are runes that solve our mobility issues)
I hope this help for anyone who have issues with mobility in wvwvw. It wont make you a shortbow thief but it solve alot of the movment imbalance issues you might experience in solo or smal group. As soon group get a 5 man team you will have perma swiftness anyway as long its a guild team and the team officer know how to organice a team.
