Damage by confusion color
pve mob attack slower and most of the time your confusion debuff wears off before they attack. and even if the pve mob attack within the duration of your debuff the damage it does is just as much as your auto attack skill most of the time.
Confusion isn’t as great in Pve since mobs tend to attack slower. Also, players are hitting utilities and such that hit them for confusion also. It seems that some players don’t even notice confusion an keep spamming skills only to kill themselves.

I also think the AI is coded poorly in that they get boons/specials but confusion only appears to apply when they attack, not when they activate skills… well pretty much because it appears their skills are auto-activated without triggering confusion.
However, if you use confusion more like blocking/dodging, and applying it just before they swing and your able to stack it fairly high (6-9 stacks ideally), it can tic twice before falling off. This is even more so effective for aoe encounter so you get to see clouds of purple all around you.
ok I guess that was probably it then. That is unfortunate that confusion is not as fun or damaging in pve
You just need to time it correctly, or to keep it up adding condition duration.
I’m playing a condition mesmer and I can tell you that normal mobs die without touching me…. i could deal 4850 dmg on a mob on a single skill use stacking up confusion on it.
At the moment we cannot provide a constant dps with our conditions but if we manage to time it well we can provide a sort of condition burst :p
