Q:

So I, much like the rest of the Mesmer community have felt like we are neglected. But I’m willing to put aside my negative outlook and play ball, however can we please get some communication?

Surely it’s understandable to see how the changes over all appear negative to the player, but giving the benefit of the doubt I’d presume there is some Intention in Direction. After the episode of ‘ready up’ it appears as if there is some sort of intention (altho tbh none of the devs seemed very unenthused or interested, seems as if the class was a chore to talk about.), So I have a few questions to ask for both myself as well as to ease the feels of the community.

1. i-leap change: I get the idea of fixing bugs right, that’s a clear concept. But A-net you guys knew, you KNEW it was already a problematic skill. Yet when you actually do touch the skill after being asked for months you only serve to remove utility from it. So trying to keep an open mind here… (1a) What is the Intention in Direction for this? Granted there may be a lot of things being tested and possibilities for something new. But we need to know. Is there any forethought beyond “Oh hey a bug, on a already a messy skill but we can touch it up no problem.”? (1b)Is there more to this kind of change? At least let us know if it’s being worked on or not.

2. Needed changes: On the mindstab topic we got a response about testing numbers. Which is cool I like that, however that was followed with “This’ll be a while guys but hold on!”. (2) So for the processes like this how or why does it take so long? (2a) Is it a lack of man power because of Living Story or other kinds of freequent updates? Or (2b) is it perhaps how the skill in question effects the game?

If (2a) is there are there not specific teams designed for bug fixes? Are tweaks that are less based on balance and more for functionality all done by “the balance team”?

If (2b) are current situations/contexts of a skill taken into consideration? or is it all about the end result being the major goal? (As an example for i-leap being a trendy topic: altho it seems like stolen utility via a almost false premise on paper, it is important to be fixed for a up coming change.)

(put markings at each key question to make the wall of text less daunting, and I realize my grammar is not the best hope it helps.)


I’d also like to say something a bit directly A-net. Personally I’m not actually all that salty about today’s i-leap change, so many other things have had to be adapted to since release. Now I get it, your game your choice what to do with however. But the players make up your game so with what little my opinion is worth I personally think it’s pretty BM (bad mannered) to dance around something you have a CLEAR! understanding is unsatisfactory to your players only to then be like. “Btw we made the skill you ALREADY have enough trouble with worse, Deal with it!”

Thank you for writing this well thought out post. I do hope we get some type of communication.

Even though Anet is by no means obligated too..

I also agree with you about the “Ready Up” podcast. When they brought up Mesmer I was so excited to hear what they had to say, but I was very disappointed.. It’s like they didn’t care, they didn’t treat Mesmer as an actual class, just a utility bot.

This was actually a pretty nice post, thanks for taking the time to write that up Daishi

I too would like to hear a response. I’m not one of those people who are coming after the devs with a torch and pitchfork. However it would be nice to hear about the direction that they are taking with the class.

I also understand that the devs may not necessarily want to bring up talking points as a lot of people will hold the devs to their words. Many things can change, even within a day, so nothing is ever definite.

This is my simple request (or plea) as I havn’t had a true urge to play this game in some time now. It was just a few days ago that I came back from a long hiatus from playing this game and after replaying the game for a few hours, I quickly realized the reasons for my departure. It saddens me as this is legitimately a good game, but it has been a bit underwhelming.

total bump (everything in this post is in regard to pvp); frankly I always saw the ileap blink as a lifesaver from stunlocking builds as well as a lockdown to immediately burst afterwards, which is the bread and butter of most shatter builds in my opinion.

sure the skill was already buggy, blinking me out of the map/underground every once in a while and not having the clone leap up stairs or any variations in the terrain, but that’s why you learn not to use it in those situations.
now i try to take on the chieftain and svanir in pvp and they immediately take out the ileaped clone in one hit, leaving me little to no time to bring up any other clones/phantasms and then immobilize them to burst.

another good point someone in pvp mapchat brought up was the fact that the clone is easily going to get destroyed by aoe before you even have a chance to blink to a target. i am in no way going to trait up/regear or use up a utility to increase the health of the clones i’m just going to shatter anyway.

in this sense i feel the devs are not helping the mesmer specialty of good old fashioned shattering and, in fact, driving newer players to play phatasm/pu builds that keeps the player out of the fight as well as away from capping points

in other news i’m learning to like this new 4/4/6 lockdown build with gs/staff

yeah neglected is the right word for this combined with nerfed to the ground of the grounds. i personally have given up on this class. devs hate this class and destroyed any form of viability we had left. terrible in wvw, boring veilbot duty,0 aoe , 0 ways to keep dmg pressure up, 100 bugs…..no fixes only nerf after nerf!!

1. It was a bug fix, but yes, they need to fix everything else with the skill too if they fix one of the bugs, specifically one that helped the players be more viable. Why not fix the ones that negatively impact the player all in one run?

2. Mindstab needs to be a cast on the move, there’s not reason why it makes you stand still , just silly. Please make it to where you can move and cast at the same time , adds fluidity to the skill and makes GS overall a better weapon. Radius should be increased imo, maybe 240.

I wouldn’t hold your breath for a dev response. The mesmer community has tried over and over to help them improve things (which benefits them as well as us), but they just aren’t interested.
