Considering that the invulnerability from Blurred Frenzy was removed and Distortion only last for 1s, whilst the other professions have invulnerabilities for at least 3 or 4s, I think Distortion should have a duration of at least 2s (not asking to have the same as other classes. That would be too balanced).

TBH I like the Distortion share duration as it is, because I really dislike causing my entire team to decap when I’m just Distorting for myself.
But yes it should be changed to Blur and last longer + longer ICD (and buff up Blurred Inscriptions while we’re at it). Distortion itself however doesn’t need and should not receive any buffs.

I’d suggest that the distortion should be applied when you start to cast a signet, not when you finished casting one. It would let you time the distortion to react properly to an attack.

This. As it is only Signet of Midnight works well with Blurred Inscriptions. Given that Mesmer signets don’t synergise well together their trait better be really good (especially since it’s competing with Shattered Concentration).
Then you could just interrupt your own attacks and chain distort all you want.
Then give it an internal CD for each signet. Programm it like this: If you select this trait, you have selected like 6 traits (one for each signet), each saying “casting signet of [name] grants 1 sec distortion while having an internal CD of signet of [name]’s [CD]”.
So if you cast signet A with 20 sec CD, the trait will go on an 20 sec internal CD for signet A. If you cast signet A again after interrupting before the CD wore off, you recive no distortion. But you’ll get distortion when you cast signet B, C, D etc.
I hope you get the idea. But please – don’t try to kill an idea if it’s just a concept, that’s disrepectful. If that what you said is the only problem to my idea, I take it you agree it’s a great idea except for a minor issue in the concept / programming.

Honestly, I’m not really sure that Signet of Inspiration or Signet of Illusions even warrant having a cast time in the first place. Signet of the Ether and Domination definitely need theirs though in order to allow some degree of counterplay.

Personally I’d make protected phantasms the minor, then buff inspiring distortion and make it the major. Inspiration is a fantastic line for a lot of reasons, but if you happen to need distortion while on a point, it’s good for a guaranteed 25%-50% decap depending on location.

Personally I’d make protected phantasms the minor, then buff inspiring distortion and make it the major. Inspiration is a fantastic line for a lot of reasons, but if you happen to need distortion while on a point, it’s good for a guaranteed 25%-50% decap depending on location.
I would make one change, make persisting images the adept minor, move protected phantasms to adept major, and inspiring distortion to master major.
Then you would have three clear path within the trait line.
Glamour and projectile defense, aka field augmentation
Healing as a source of mitigation.
Direct damage mitigation through transferal or invulnerability.

That is a non sequitur. There are many situations where a thing was buffed because it required too much thought. And there are situations where things are nerfed because they require too much thought. For the former adding a timer to portal is an example, for the later the loss of the initial mimic/echo for its inferior replacement (before the current iteration.).

Oh, I’m imagining it. I can hear my whole team cursing my name and lineage, for causing us to lose a point during a teamfight.
Mesmer needs many tune-ups, but distortion duration is not one of them, especially with Chronomancer/alacrity on the way.
