I watched the opener so far. Pretty much it boils down to “dodge this” and “dodge that”, which yeah is pretty accurate :p

There’s other tactics for other classes of course, high mobility for example to outpace the mesmer (or force cd’s etc).

Anyway, I always find it funny watching/fighting PU/power/torch mesmers in WvW. I’ve run torch myself of course, and I totally get PU use, but the examples I watched in your vid you can see how stealth is meant to be used as a means to add the element of surprise to a burst, but only serves to make the target aware -_-u

Watching the video right now, enjoying what i’m seeing. But i think you have GS 4 and 5 confused. Gs4 summons the phantasm, Gs 5 is the knockback.

Fighting a necro is a tough fight for a normal spec power mes anyway. In PVP is takes me ages to take one down, and I can’t make a mistake, because of multiple conditions with movement impairment. Also a necro has better mobiity in-combat and can gap close you fairly quickly. But the biggest problem is shroud, effectively doubles health and also halves direct damage taken, making shatters ineffective. However when playing chrono I found the fight evened out considerable, and could fight on point toe to toe with a necro.

i didn’t know that..this is a good tip…this saves a much needed dodge…

especially against mesmers that run triple cast mantra of pain…my gosh the pain…
i can dodge his gs 4 and gs 2 and sword 3 but the mantra of pain my gosh just spams into me and bites into my HP

The sounds of mantras spamming drive me crazy..

i thought mantra of pain casting was instant…you can hear the sound and dodge in time?

also what is a good time to use mantra of pain?

Oh, if you hear the first one you know the second isnt far behind :p, not to mention mirror blades, mind wracks, the works ;D

Mantra of Pain is indeed instant, if you hear the sound, chances are you ’re already got hit by it. However, u can prepare to dodge the next hit(s) since like others have said, most users just mindlessly spam all the charges in the row to frontload the dmg in a single burst.

I personally use MoP in sync with Mind Wrack shatter combo but always reserve 1 charge left in case the target getting away and out of melee range (don’t underestimate the 1200 reach of MoP).
