Dragon Bash - June 11 patch notes for Mesmer
Don’t forget they always break something in the behaviour scripting. (iZerker’s aiming, bounce logic etc)
I’m predicting that after this patch clones/phantasms will all behave like iWarden and stand where they are spawned instead of closing to melee.
Garnished Toast
- Phantasmal warden now spins in the opposite direction as intended.
This one killed me, amazing post!
General changes
- Fixed damage inconsistency with Phantasmal Berserker. Phantasmal Berserker will no longer give damage. Inflicted cripple has been replaced with swiftness to compensate.
Sword:
- Mind Stab – this skill is fixed and now properly remove condition instead of boon.
Focus:
- Temporal Curtain – increased damage of this skill for 50%.
- Phantasmal warden now spins in the opposite direction as intended.
Traits:
- Illusionary Persona now kills you upon shatter, so as to more accurately mimic your clones.

Lol.
Epic stuff; especially clone damage increase/Mesmer damage decrease, Illusionary Persona and making a connection between “Misdirection” and “Fear” haha.
Don’t give them any ideas, please…

[AVTR]
Isle of Kickaspenwood
Fixed a bug where portal entre and exteunt where both purple.
Now they properly display Yellow and Blue colors.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Fixed a bug that will cause izerker to super bounce and spaz all over the map like a tank from halo 2
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
Traits
- Deceptive Evasion: This has always been a very powerful, almost mandatory, trait. Therefore, in order to make other traits more appealing, we are applying a 10 second internal cooldown.
- Illusionist’s Celerity: Fixed a bug that allowed this trait to stack with other cooldown-reducing traits.
- Blinding Befuddlement: This trait in was extremely powerful in large-scale combat in WvW, and was actually causing all servers to delete any non-mesmer characters they had so that they could run it at least 5 times at once. However, we may have been too harsh with the previous change to this trait, so we will be reverting the internal cooldown, but giving it only a 0.1% chance to proc. Fear not though, for each Black Lion Chest you opened within the last hour will give you an additional 0.1% chance.
-Look, look with your special eyes!
-My Dragonbrand!
I won’t be surprised if i see any of these in patch.
Haha, not bad at all!
- Into the Void – Flashes yellow warning message across opponents’ screen for two seconds prior to activation. Must satisfy thief forum qq’ing.
- Into the Void – Flashes yellow warning message across opponents’ screen for two seconds prior to activation. Must satisfy thief forum qq’ing.
Also added a two second delay before it pulls so the flashing yellow warning will be able to properly warn players.

Also added a two second delay before it pulls so the flashing yellow warning will be able to properly warn players.
Further added a two second delay so that a flashing red warning will ask, “Are you sure you don’t want to avoid this pull?”

And added a force-dodge if the player chooses to not dodge. This forced dodge will not incur any reduction in Endurance, ensuring that players of all skill levels will be able to dodge Into the Void. This also encourages players to try out new methods of fighting against skills that involves not pressing any key to counter them.
In the next patch (after June 11), we’ll include auto-battle, as seen in FFXIII! This will be included for every profession except Mesmers, ensuring that the community understands that Mesmers are an easymode class, able to compete on par with other classes while they don’t have to do anything!
traits
Domination grandmaster trait “comfounding suggestions”
We think RNG in skills is something only belongs to engineers and the gem store, this trait now has a 100% chance to proc, but now heals the target, thus confusing it.
Donination adept trait “halting strike”
Imrpoved damage done by 100%, also stealthing the target for 2 seconds (this was done so their auto attacks stop, thus confusing the target).
Duelling grandmaster trait “empowering mantras”
This tried now properly increases damage done by mantras by 40%, not by the mesmer’s other attacks. Mantra of pain did not get this change, we felt like this mantr was mandatory in moet builds, buffing it would make it even more overpowered.
Illusions grandmaster trait “imbued diversion”
Changing a single target skill to AoE is overpowered, so the cooldown of diversion is now increased by 500%, to compensate diversion also does 500% more damage.
Illusionary persona didnt make sense. You either had to die when being shattered, or we removed it completely. Having a suicide button in this game isnt right, so we replaced it by “master of diversion”.
Reduces cooldown on diversion by 400%.
Profession mechanics
Shattering now takes 2 seconds to cast. This was done so it looks cooler and players of lower skill and thieves have an easier time avoiding it. Shattering can be negated by blind and line of sight as other skills. When the shatter misses, illusions just continue their normal AI. To compensate the mesmer now shatters him/herself, killing the mesmer. We think this will compensate for the loss of damage by not making clones shatter.
Reduced damage of mind wrack by 50%, to compensate, mind wrack is now ground targeted, giving the mesmer more control and immersion.
utility skills
Decoy now properly creates a stealthed clone.
weapon skills
All block skills now can only be used in melee distance. To compensate, they will do 110% of their original damage at a range of 900 or higher. Damage is decreased to 50% at melee range.
Winds of chaos.
Removed RNG elements from this skill. It only procs burning on everyhing it hits now. All boons to allies are replaced by burning to remove RNG elements.
Bounce logic is always foe ally ally ally ally. If no allies are around it will bounce to the mesmer instead.
Removed a bug in the last patch where clones were bouncable targets. Bouncing attacks will now properly bounce to the mesmer, if the mesmer isnt in range t will still bounce to clones. Conditions on clones are transferred to the mesmer.
Mirror blade
This skill now properly damages allies, we find this is more realistic.
Phase retreat
This skill has had its cooldown increased by 500%. The cooldown was literlly so low, people could spam it without thinking and still win the fight. We found it didnt require skill. Phase retreat now requires mesmers to actually think when to use it.
Clones and phantasms are no longer bound to a target. When their target gets killed any existing illusion will automatically target the mesmer. This was done so you dont have to recast illusions so often. (Brought to you by the mesmer community)
Im actually looking forward to this update. I hope i can still finish my karka achievements today :’(.
Cheers,
Alissah

:D
We decided to make further changes to greatword skills, so they wouldn’t feel overpowered in comparison to Phantasmal Berserker.
GREATSWORD:
Spatial surge – this skill now do less damage to your target, but more damage to enemies that you don’t have targeted.
Mind stab – this skill now damage the target if they are hit, if they are not, you take damage instead.
Illusionary wave – this skill will now instead of enemies push your clones for the strategic positioning.
SWORD:
Illusionary leap – chances of your clones’s leap to succeed is improved by 20%
STAFF:
Chaos armor – now has chance on hit to summon white kitten to help you for 15 seconds.
Chaos storm – is now strictly defensive skill; if you cast it on yourself you’ll get random boons, if the enemy step in the circle you get random conditions, while they get random boons.
Utilities:
Null field – now lasts 9 seconds! Has a 50% chance to remove condition every five seconds.
Mantra of distraction – grants you and your foe lag for three seconds.
Traits:
Confounding suggestions : this trait was entirely removed, because it was overpowered even for grandmaster trait section.
Persisting images – phantasms have 20% more health, but they die twice as fast.
Illusionary elesticity – bouncing attacks have unlimited bounces. It bounces between you and foe, until one of you die.
Mimic: We felt that this skill did not have enough counterplay. If your enemies type /dance fast enough, you will now dance with them for the remainder of this spell.
Phantasms: previously, the phantasm mechanic would check for evades or obstructions on cast, create an NPC which could be destroyed that attacks after a short delay, thus executing an effect which the player could dodge or block. We have determined that this was unfair, as players were still being hit by phantasms.
The new functionality is as follows: the player must cast the skill to summon the phantasm, which will fail if the path is obstructed, the attack is evaded, or if the target is nonsentient or looking away from the mesmer. This casting effect is accompanied by a chant, similar to mantras, which will play every single time to signal your intentions. This will create an illusionary NPC who will attack the target, but only after bowing gracefully to show the proper courtesy.
In unrelated news, Hundred Blades and Heartseeker have had their attack speed increased by 25%.
Here are some good mesmer fixes:
MindWrack: Range of damage increased, damage scales based how close target is to illusion when it shatters.
Cry of Frustration: Doubles application of confusion to 4 per illusion.
Blurred Frenzy: Target is now dazed, if hit.
iLeap: Increased range to 900
Spatial Surge: Removed damage scaling. Weapon does highest damage no matter the distance from target.
Mirror Blade: Creates a clone for each hostile target it hits. Can not longer bounce off of illusions
Phantasmal Berserker: Hits a single target at least three times to a max of five.
iWave: Causes all enemies within 1200 range to do the “wave” emote.
Etherbolt: Applies confusion
Confusing Images: Creates clones that instantly shatter on target while channelling. Up to five clones created. Shatter effect is cry of frustration
Into the Void: Now sends targets to a random location on the map.
Phantasm Warden: Now follows target before activating attack.
Phantasmal Mage: Doubles attack frequency. Now applies a random condition on attack for 5s (poison, bleeding, confusion, cripple, agony). Conditions are five stacks or three times their duration. Attacks also strip boons.
The Prestige: Burning and blind conditions are reversed in timing.
Phantasmal Duelist: Now insults target when attacking.
Magic Bullet: Can hit Queen Jenna if fired from any library in Tyria.
Mantras: Reduced cast time to one half a second.
Decoy: Invisibility now stacks with other forms of invisibility. Duration increased to 5 seconds.
Mirror Images: Forces all nearby enemies to target one of the clones.
Portal: Once exit is set, can be activated to pull all nearby enemies through the portal
Mimic: If doesn’t absorb a projectile, steals random utility skill from target.
Illusion of Life: Fully rezzes downed allies. If nearby enemies fail to down one of them in 60 seconds, the enemies are downed.
Phantasmal Defender: Now uses Shield Bash
Phantasmal Disenchanter: Summons any other phantasm to replace itself
Signet of Midnight: Boon duration improvement increased to match other professions. Active effect now creates a smoke field.
Mass Invisibility: Now gives mesmer all boons for five seconds so they can use other runes.
Moa Morph: Target no longer transformed. Instead target is forced to use the “cry” emote for ten seconds.
Time Warp: Now works as a shout
Deception: Mesmer vanished for one second. Creates two clones nearby. Mesmer is randomly swapped with one of the clones.
Phantasmal Rogue: Now instantly defeats all nearby enemies.
^ Lawl. Some of them are actually quite awesome. Some others are obviously overpowered, and some I can’t approve. What’s your problem with queen Jennah?
