Dungeons/Farming
Shatter build is best, just like it’s the best for everything right now.
Can some one link me the"typical" shatter build?

^ This.
In all honesty, as far as dungeons go, any build is fine.
Dungeons are one of those places where Mesmer’s aren’t going to be putting out any major damage no matter what they do, you strength lies in your utility’s.
I’m full glass cannon but I only ever think of myself as a support class in dungeons, let stronger classes take the lead and be there to back them up with appropriate skills.
Time Warp is always going to make boss fights go by quicker, other classes will love you for it!
Mass Invis/Veil is a great tool for skipping trash mobs and bits of dungeons people want to avoid. It will also help when your group has aggro’d far to many mobs, I tend to stay at the back of the pack so when I see the group retreating I’ll drop one of these two to get them to safety.
Feedback… lets face it, AMAZING skill, works fantastic on crowds of ranged mobs, watch them kill themselves!
Often get those bits in dungeons where you have to run past boulders and spikes that randomly pop up to get to an off switch, I usually drop a portal and then run and blink as far as I can past these bits, drop the portal exit and bring everyone across, saves so much time and effort!
As far as traits go, we have plenty of helpful stuff like giving allies vigor on shatters etc!
As long as you work with these things, everything else you have just aids others in killing. I tend to carry my staff in off hand purely for getting 3 staff clones up and stacking might on my allies to help them, it does very little condition damage as I’m not spec’d for it but might on high DPS characters is more helpful than my own damage, plus chaos storm is great for boons too! (the extra bounce trait works well with this too).
With farming, full on shattering into masses of mobs during events is amazing, people say we fail at tagging in Orr but once you start shattering you find you get loads of drops!

The problem with mesmers for tagging in orr comes when you’re on a server where mobs die within 1 second of spawning. It sounds like you arn’t on one of those servers. If you are mesmer is by far the worst class for tagging. Setting up even a single clone shatter takes a few seconds – you have the cast time of the clone ability, then the clone has to run to the mob and explode.
You can get by with IP if you know where the mobs spawn by just sitting on their spawn point and shattering as soon as they appear but that’s about it. If you have a second or two you can cast something like izerker or iwarden that spawns in melee range then shatter it instantly and that works too but you need a second or two. Same for something like using staff 2.

With the advent of FotM, “tagging in orr” is not a big deal because you don’t get the chance.
I attempted some balthazar temple offensives and ended up losing morale before seeing the hill due to the lack of participation.
The devs say they’ll fix this, but I have yet to see it.
