More than 80% of the time (for me) anything attacking me will still attack when a clone is next to it, and when I get out of range, it follows me instead of targeting my clones. Is this supposed to happen? Also when I go invisible, my enemies will still attack me when i reappear (instead of attacking my clones).
Any help on how to fix this, or if it is not a bug then tips on how to have the enemy target clones instead of me would be nice.
Thanks in advance,
AfterEcho

P.S. Im an asura, dont know if that helps

Aggro in this game is “when a mob feels like it” not based on anything else. Stealth no longer drops that “I WANT TO KEEL YOU” behavior, therefore it is all working as intended. If you want a mob to kill clones instead of you, start by spawning as many clones as possible BEFORE engaging him with your damage spells (e.g. Staff 2 + Sword 3 + Roll —> Spawn more clones/phantasms —> Start using auto attacks).

With the latest patch mobs no longer treat you as a new enemy when you enter stealth so it seems that it’s working as intended. I do find that mobs attack me more then my clones but usually a well placed stun or stealth will cause them to change targets.
As Esplen posted, try spawning as many clones as you can as I’ve noticed that mobs tend to go for whoever is dealing the most DPS or closest. I recently solo’d a champion to test the new stealth and whilst it does shake off any agro you have, unless you have a phantasm out to deal some damage the mob will still most likely target you once you unstealth.

Aggro

Note the above also APPLIES to clones, and seemingly an unknown mechanic that helps AI attack clones over you. My guess is that it makes the AI assume the Illusion Dmg is actually stronger then it is for Aggro/Dmg Table reasons. Note the unknown mechanic that I assume exists may not be real, may not be what I assume, or does not make the enemy attack a clone over you 100% of the time, or even 50% of the time.
Having more Toughness makes a Clone more attractive of a target for AI.
Having more Condition Dmg and Precision with Sharper Images also makes Clones more attractive of a target for AI. (Dmg amount)
Being further away from the target then Clones makes a Clones more attractive of a target for AI.
Spawning a Clone and letting it attack before attacking yourself, makes said Clone more attractive of a target for the AI.

Further, not all enemies follow Aggro Mechanics the same.

Full Zerker Mesmer Build? I’ve noticed the Clones rarely taking aggro, especially with Post-Invis changes.
Rampager Mesmer Build? Easier time of distracting by far, due to Sharper Images Bleeds being stronger. (Also part of why I like using Rampager for my default choice of stats over Zerker.)
Rabid Mesmer Bleed Build? Can easily set things up so that Clones/Phantasms hold the attention of a Champion nearly the entire fight using Scepter/Focus. Lower personal dmg output, for higher Condition Dmg from Illusions and higher Toughness. Even with Post-Invis changes, this still works. A bit harder to shake its attention at times, but still works.

YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT AREN’T TRUE. HOW ELSE CAN THEY BECOME?
