Hello guys I am a full on engi player and love my main class to bits. But what I am looking at is rolling a mesmer.

I play WvW and PvE that’s my main area of content.
I’m looking to play a different class to my engi that always good damage. While being able to stay alive.

I know nothing about memsers at all and wish to have my knowledge broadened so I can see if it’s the right class for me.

Go for it?

Just get a Mesmer to 80 and fool around. Engineers and Mesmers are similar in terms of combat movement and dodging needed (well, Engineers poop bombs instead of butterflies).

If its the right class, no one can tell.

I have both at 80, and they’re probably the two most enjoyable classes in the game wvw wise.

PvE, roll a warrior.

I too have an engineer and mesmer. It’s great because the two playstyles are different enough to keep switching between them and not get bored.

Although a lot of people swear by stealthy condition builds for the mesmer, they really don’t compare to what the engineer can offer. You’ll notice that anything involving conditions for a mesmer takes literally forever to kill anything (whereas the engineer simply touches enemies and they implode within seconds).

If you’re going to play mesmer in WvW, you should check out the shatter builds/videos first, as those are the only builds that seem to function well in both large and small scale fights (bursty direct DPS).
