Evasive Mirror no internal cooldown?
Why though?… Vigor and reflect aren’t the same thing and reflects are kinda mesmers thing. Vigor isn’t ranger’s thing though. They also function fairly differently. Vigor on evade gives you more endurance to dodge with. Evasive Mirror is just added augmenting our dodge roll. Mesmer is built around capitalizing on mistakes and sloppy play. It’ll only really punish people who mindless spam ranged attacks after realizing that the mesmer is running Evasive Mirror. Vigor pretty much just punishes anyone not running boonstrips.
Cross class comparisons are already flimsy, but just a few logical errors here. Evasive Mirror is a master trait, competing with Blinding Dissipation, which is part of the reason it isn’t always taken. Primal Reflexes is an adept trait that only competes with Trap Synergy and Condi synergy, so if you aren’t running condis, Primal Reflexes will likely be the only real option there. Vigor is a boon, so it is affected by boon duration. Mirror is not so it is locked at 1.5 seconds. Very different.
I think you misunderstand the trait. Evasive mirror doesn’t give reflect whenever you use the dodge button. Evasive mirror gives reflect whenever you actually evade an attack. This means that it can also proc from the use of blurred frenzy and the well of precognition. It also means that you can’t just tuck and roll and gain immunity to projectiles (ignoring the fact that that’s not possible anyway due to dodge roll constraints).
Evasive Mirror
Gain a barrier that reflects projectiles after a successful evasion.
Reflects incoming projectiles. Mirror (1½s): Reflects incoming projectiles. What does this mean, on dodge they have 1.5sec reflection and cooldown, so every time they dodge they reflect no matter what.
Compared to ranger trait Primeval Reflex, in order to get 5 seconds vigor, we need to evade, and we have 8 seconds of internal cooldown.
Either ranger needs removal of internal cooldown or mesmer needs 3-4 seconds internal cooldown. While we all know that endurance got drastically nerfed!
It does have a cooldown.
Endurance isn’t going to magically fill itself.
And like you said. Endurance was drastically nerfed.
Though funny thing. Are people just picking random traits now to complain about.
Actually for rangers it is also on successful evade and the sword has some evades also. The big difference is that vigor would stack (its a boon). So if you evade a rapid fire for example, you would get maybe 25s vigor immediately. Mirror does not stack, you just get your 1.5s.
Why not play a Mesmer with it to see how it is.
If you happen to successfully evade an attack through dodging, the mirror is usually ended by the time the dodge or blurred frenzy ends, or a fraction of a second afterwards. In my opinion it is not a defensive trait because you would have evaded the damage anyway, rather it is an offensive trait to deal damage back to the enemy.
Blurred frenzy (or the Well) is limited with cooldown, and dodges with endurance – so it’s not like this is proccing every few seconds…
Also not to mention that a lot of mesmers runs Deceptive evasion, which spawn a clone on dodge, making us use a lot of our dodges on not actually evading anything, but simply spawning a clone
Vigor helps you refill the endurance you just used to dodge. When Evasive Mirror procs, chances are high that you just dodged a projectile, anyway, so unless the other guy is spamming autoattack or Rapid Fire/Unload, those reflects won’t be of much use to you. Also, to trait Evasive Mirror, you need to give up on Blinding Dissipation, which is one of the main tools for Dueling mesmers (as in the traitline, not as a gamemode) to deal with heavy melee hitters like warrior or thief.

I’ve tried to use this trait several times, and it is quite difficult to make it effective. You have to be under attack to evade in the first place. Most of the damage has already been done by the time it procs. The timing has to be pretty precise to make it work at all. A junk trait imo.
