And so it was, on the cusp of the second anniversary for Guild Wars 2, that one of the most iconic skills to ever exist in the Guild Wars franchise ceased to be.

Although its Guild Wars 2 incarnation was a pale shadow of its former self, it still carried with it a enduring nostalgia that bore the characteristic uniqueness of the mesmer profession.

I had hoped that the Guild Wars 2 version would one day be buffed into a respectable skill that could make a worthwhile choice for a utility slot, but it appears that day was not to come.

You will be missed, old friend. May you find peace in the mists.

they should have kept the old mimic tbh, the new one just sounds boring, i only see it as useful if its usable on ur own allys to copy ur allys boons

the way its gonna be .. zero use in any pve mode, and pvp too much depending on enemy proffession and spec

just my ytb channel

The new sounds like an arcane thiefery 2.0

They should have changed mimic in a way like it summons a phantasm that does the absorbed skill ONCE.

I’m a bit surprised by the echo and mind stab too. Anet seems to have taken the path of least resistance, instead of doing something interesting they’re just adding damage and radius to mind stab and mimic will copy boons.

They could have done some simple stuff that would have been better. Mimic could have ripped all their boons in addition to copying or give you boons and then echo copied them to allies in a radius. At least it’d be a bit more interesting and get more play than it’s current change.

Well, yeah. It’s Anet working on mesmers.

Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.
