Fellow Mesmer seeking guidance. Slaying thieves & GS Warriors.
First off, what kind of weapon combination do you use? GS/Staff? Sword+Pistol/Staff?
1)
Don’t forget when they use Death Lotus you can still damage then with confuse, try to get some stacks of confuse on them with your F2. Also having some sort of condition removal ability would be helpful. (Null Field, e.t.c.)
2)
With warriors, just kite them. Most warriors use signets to gain tons of buffs, remove them asap. Dodge their charge and hundred blades, and make sure to use your phantasms after he used his aoe abilities so they won’t get destroyed so easily.
Warriors are really the most simple class to beat once you learn how to kill them easily, it just takes time.
3)
No clue, never used MoC. Sorry.
As you mentioned, Arcane Thievery is the bomb. It’s most certainly your best defense against Thieves coupled with confusion. As Dreleth also mentioned, Null Field is an awesome skill and very handy for condition heavy Thieves.
I normally run a Toughness staff build and honestly, these are the two easiest classes to kill. Between chaos storm and Chaos armor they usually have a wall of debuffs and I have a wall of buffs, plus all the damage reduction from 3 illusions makes you very near impossible to kill to anyone other than the very best players.
Also with Dreleth, knowing a warriors next abilities helps greatly. Play one for 10 minutes and work out a general rotation of what to expect next. It’s fairly simple and they really don’t have much variation in what they’ll do. Use your Thievery to take their Signet of Rage.
Any advice will really come down to what build/weapon sets you’re using as Mesmer has drastically different play styles.
I personally run a Toughness/Illusions Staff build with a GS switch for runners and burst to great effect, particularly on node capping and defending. Damage output is low but you draw your strength from the clones, offensively and defensively. Most people aren’t concerned with clones and don’t actively kill them because they’re looking for you… Which plays into the spec nicely.
After you charge MoC you gain 2 uses (3 with a trait), which you gotta trigger yourself. Stability makes you immune to control effects (ensnare isn’t included here, so it’s not that effective against Melees with an ensnare skill) and it also breaks control effects (so it does work against Bulls Charge or Pistol Whip).
2 seconds sounds very little, but it’s one of the lowest CD stabilities in the game and I personally find it great for stomping people. Defensively I consider Blink to be better since you can also teleport away from ensnares, but if you just want a stun breaker MoC works.
Its very simple with my glass cannon phantasm condition damage build.

First I dont use shattering skills as it kills my phantasm which are doing way more damage. The build has 769 condition damage, and 63% crit chance, and it has max dps you can make using a phantasm builds. Tested for hours. Just one phantasm duelist stacks 7-8 bleeds with 83% crit chance with a fury trait. When they get close I use blurred frenzy to do some burst and evade all atacks, then I follow with decoy most of the time. Stun them swap to staff, cast warlock, chaos storm and chaos armor. They are either dead now or they try to escape.
Thanks guys, learnt alot! Will try out your build, Addictions
As a 3x Sword Mesmer, I find GS Warriors to be fairly easy.
They’re lethal, sure, but between Blurred Frenzy, rooting them, Distortion, Distraction, MoD and the knockback + the constant crippling, they seem to not have that much chance to even hit me at all.

You’re posting a “MAX DPS” build without Empowered Mantras? With a Staff? And without Compounding Power?
