Does this sound like a really odd combination or not really? Just curious what others think.

Had one since release. It’s all relative.

p.s. humans look like children in this game thanks to the presence of Norns/Char.

p.p.s Sylvari look like vegetables.

It sounds like an odd combination because norn females are just too big and their animation is clunky. Like a drunk olympic swimmer on steroids.

I love my beautiful Norn mesmer.

It doesn’t sound odd, though norn mesmers are not very common i think. Or maybe i just don’t see them all that much.
If you’re asking lorewise – it’s still not odd, Raven is a spirit who represents wit, cunning, trickyness, etc. which is all pretty much in line with mesmer’s concept.

The way female norn walks for me is a bit weird.

Female Norn Mesmer’s are not odd. In fact, I think they are “hotter” than the humans … but I like a “woman”, not a “girl”. The Norn women remind me of my wife :-)

I see far more Female Norn Mesmers than I do Male Norn Mesmers and Charr Mesmers of either sex.

I think several people think what I used to … it’s more beneficial to be small than large as a Mesmer … trying to get that extra edge in PvP.

I think being smaller can be beneficial selfishly as when it comes to shaking someone off you as you are less of a visual change in the scenery when you come out of stealth and you can hide behind other players easier.

I think being larger can be beneficial both selfishly and for your team. Larger illusions take up more screen real estate for your opponents. Those larger illusions also not only block visuals to you but your allies. With large illusions they do a better job of this for your allies .. heck, Asura clones are not blocking visuals to any non-Asura allies.

My first Mesmer at launch was an Asura. When I was thinking of switching to Norn, I dueled for quite a bit with the same people. I’d use the same everything on both Mesmers, just one was Asura and the other was Norn. The consensus was that the Norn was actually harder to fight against.

That all being said. The end-game is about aesthetics. If you don’t like the look of your character, you’ll be unhappy. Pick what looks good to you. What you like.

Male norn mesmer is the way to go :C

There are two memorable norn female mesmers in-game, who were really tough to fight. Vilnia is a Raven Shaman who sacrifices children to power her magic. Orma disguises herself as a merchant to rip off players. Both of them wrecked me the first time I encountered them.

A female Norn running is like watching a beautiful arabian mare trot while a Human is like watching a drunk donkey trying to moonwalk.

A female Norn is a sexy woman.

A female human is a little girl.

I have norn mesmer as well. Just shrink the size to the minimum if you want. It doesn’t look clunky, she looks like she doesn’t walk bloody slow, and you still get many of the cool norn qualities like tattoos and bear transformation to easily create portals in Thaumanova Reactor Fractal. Norns are also more unique and I tend to enjoy their culture and background a bit more.

My only real gripe is that some armor models have some daft scaling on the Norn frame.

That said, I am currently waiting for the removal of the NPE to make a sylvari mesmer instead.

For Norns, its more like dem abs.

What is wrong with hips?!

Many famous women who are heralded as being extremely attractive/sexy have a shapely body. That’s part of where ‘dem curves’ comes from. That includes the hips, hence “the hourglass”. For example, look at Sofia Vergara.

This all said, plenty of ways for a woman to look attractive and it’s always in the eyes of the beholder.

I think we have different tastes in women :-p … mine probably matters less since I’m married … my taste is down to 1 woman ;-)

How often does Orma show up? I read that she either shows up near the Priory bridge or Havoc waypoint disguised as either a quaggan, norn with a hat or a norn with dreadlocks. I spent like 30 minutes switching back and forth between the waypoints and she hasn’t appeared.

Nothing at all is wrong with hips themselves. It’s the oversized/overscaled armor that sits on them. Seer’s Pants have a similar effect to WoW shoulder pads for example.

I do still love my Femme Norn though and to restore balance, My Mesmer will be reborn as a Revenant.

Basically, human’s in GW2 are considered to be the “pretty people”. They can wear skirts, and belly shirts and look like they came straight out of a playboy magazine. Norns on the other hand have a more realistic, and imperfectious look. A norn mesmer is completely possible, its just that ArenaNets idea of light armor is all "skirts, dresses, and melon poppers, which doesn’t really fit the norn. When playing a norn in light armor you really wanna get more of a “bad-kitten ” look for your character, which is extremely limited.

PS: Norn’s have big rears, and ASSets is life.
PPS: Anet please stop adding boobfocused armor, and pay more attention to the “ASSets”

Pretty much same here, either sylvari or maybe asura, but leans most towards the sylvari

Was my first character, and still is my main, although currently i’m on a bit of a break. A trickster of the Snow Leopard…

I’ve had a female norn mesmer as my main since shortly after the game started, and aside from some pose-clipping here and there, I haven’t had any gripes. My character is the absolute minimum height for a female norn mesmer, so often I don’t stand out, unlike the full size norns.

Go big or go home.

My clones take shots for allies all the time. They are big. They are sexy. They are well-dressed. They attract attacks :-p

Norn mesmers are nice. I created mine because it’s a surprising combination, and mesmers are all about surprise and stuff. Seemed adequate, in its own weird way. Then it’s also true that the big clones make a good shield and fill the opponent’s screen. Of course, you don’t get all the fancy dresses and frills that humans get, but well, you can make do without, plenty of ways of looking awesome. I like the zodiac armor, themed with the same colors as my twilight.
The way Norns walk is also better.

The only times when I regret being a big norn ares when I am hiding inside SM in WvW. Contrary to child-sized humans and midget-sized asurans, it’s hard to hide a norn ^^

The reason the little mesmers can hide is because they don’t have such an overwhelming amount of “Fabulous” and “Awesome” attracting all people to them … their little bodies just don’t have the capacity for it ;-)

I created my female Norn as my first character after purchasing Guildwars2 and she is still my favorite character. I will soon make ascended armor for her.
