Ferocity can be gained from clones that wield scepter/sword. I assume this is unattended because a mesmer cannot gain stacks from attacking with scepter while holding a sword.
Is the duration on the buff bugged? The only way you can maintain the ferocity buff at 10 stacks reliably is with sword clones.
Something is clearly bugged with the buff duration the phantasms give since players who use the trait and decide to go scepter/sword would never receive more than 3 stacks of the buff?
The weird bug with duration can be seen on other classes.
For example if we look at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Assassin%27s_Presence
We can see that its duration is bugged. It applies the buff for 9 seconds. But as we know from fencers finesse, buffs that can give up 150 ferocity are only suppose to last 6 seconds.
A similar bug exists on http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elemental_Surge that mistaking allows the buff to exist for 15 seconds when we know that 150 ferocity increases have to exist for 6 seconds at a time.
The bug seems to be everywhere as we look at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/No_Quarter and we see the 2 seconds 250 ferocity whenever you gain fury is not working correctly. What it currently does it apply 250 ferocity whenever you have fury.
But perhaps it is just a common bug with ferocity. As if we look at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Axe_Mastery we can see that the ferocity increases from that equal 300+ because it mistakenly assumes that dual equipping a weapon that are part of a ferocity increase would give double the ferocity. Which we know is simply not true as sword/focus versus sword/sword maintain similar levels of the buff.
Can we expect in the next patch that the bugs I mentioned will be fixed?

Heh. The sarcasm here burns rather strongly.
In all seriousness, I’ve just come to accept that most of what we get will be a direct downgrade of something another class gets. The odd exceptions (alacrity!) I view as temporary fluctuations away from the norm.

What are you talking about? Who would ever feel the need to be sarcastic on this forum?
It is quite wonderful that the physical sustain dps of mesmers had gotten so low that reducing all the cooldowns of the mesmer by a third has no tangible increase to dps.
For the most part the phantasms are not downgrades. Zerker, warden, and duelist all perform very fair versions of whirlwind attack, unload, and whirling defense. But without those phantasms we are nothing in terms of sustained physical damage. And for some reason they tried their best to balance the phants around the counterparts of other professions, but they never realized that those professions had other damaging skills as well. Even if we can call whirlwind attack a fair counterpart to zerker, the rest of a warrior’s greatsword does more damage than the rest of a mesmer’s.
Also I found something funny while reading the gw1 wiki. Everyone could use a laugh around here.
Elementalists, more than any other spellcaster, bring utility to the battlefield. Elementalists specialize in blinding their foes and snaring them. While the incidental damage from their spells is nowhere near equal that of the Necromancer or Mesmer, Elementalists can bring skills to assist on spikes
how times have changed.

buffs that can give up 150 ferocity are only suppose to last 6 seconds.
This is false!
– Buffs that give stackable 15 ferocity are so stronk that have to last 6s, since they cap where the others begin. +100 status buff need at least 60s timer, cause 15>100 and because they can only stack 5×. +150 status buffs can be permanent on wielding weapon, or, if its an aura, permanent only while in combat using a box of chocolates and wedding dress. They fade in 9s cause thats the time the chocolate melts in your mouth.. average.
+250 status buff on thiefs can be explained by their profession mechanic. They initially went +150 on a det. boon and they saw a warrior after using a signet and stole the +100 from them… performing a total of 250! Mathematicians… Remember they hit with rulers therefore if we check the length of dmg coeficients they needed it. Mesmer’s became, on last update, 0.66 vs 0.8 thiefs have. Just measure it with a ruler. Our dmg coeficient bigger than theirs.
or
- mesmer have a way to insta 10x attack on target to get 6s of 150 ferocity. Otherwise it would be 1s of 150, 2s of 135 etc etc. Busted. Raportered for cheating. I bet that you even had to swing the sword to get the buff… Poor warriors.. they have to blow the horn near mobs to get such result… Yet they get so dizzy after blowing it so hard…

Well said OP, I don’t even know what to think anymore. I know it’s not about mesmer, but after the ranger WHaO nerf (When ele farts 25 might easily), we know which professions are favored.
Also, you forgot Ferocious Strikes : Gain increased ferocity while dual-wielding weapons. Oh look, 300 ferocity (+ Assassin’s Presence) in one tree line without doing anything !

Ah, have you seen the pitiful Honed Axe beside this trait ? Well it’s not like you’ll see many rangers with dual welding axe anyway…
And again, people will say ‘’ but different classes, different stuff, etc, etc, etc ’’.
So yes please ANet, fix Fencer’s Finesse so we can move on.

I think the revenant is just bugged as a whole.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vicious_Lacerations
For instance this is bugged because it is only suppose to apply to attacks done with the sword, not while holding one.
How to get 150 ferocity as a warrior: equip axe.
How to get 150 ferocity as a mesmer:
I don’t see the problem…?
