Hello one last time fellow Mesmers! I haven’t played my Mesmer much this past week because I just recently crafted The Predator on my Warrior and have been enjoying it quite a bit Every night though I (usually) check the forums or log on to him to see if the iZerker bug was fixed with the most recent patch/build.

So, I viewed the main thread about the bug here in the Mesmer section. I noted 2 things: 1. it is still bugged, 2. certain players (albeit few, and not sure if they actually MAIN a Mesmer/were around before February) are claiming it is a warranted stealth nerf lol or that there is no bug at all (Jon Peters included here). Therefore I decided to test the latter, again… Possibly we are all simply insane? Maybe it was in fact the floater bug that we were seeing? (Remember there is actually a rare floater bug IN ADDITION to the main inconsistency bug) Could it be that the night before Feb 26 we ALL changed our builds to something else, forgot about it, and then kept that non-optimal damage in our heads ever since, even after switching back to our correct builds?

Actually, no…we are indeed telling the truth. I began testing by writing down # of hits per whirl but tbh I’m so disgusted by the bug and so sleepy atm lol that I thought I should stop halfway through and just record a quick video:

iZerker bug

Number of hits on that golem with zerk amu, 6/6 divinity, 10/30/0/25/5:

2 —- 1 crit 1 base (excuse my autoattack)
3 —- 2 crits 1 base
4x miss
2 —- 0 crits 2 base
4x miss
3 —- 2 crits 1 base
4x miss
mind wrack out of anger lol

I consider that bugged.

edit: to avoid further PMs, I have Muscular Dystrophy and all I can use is a mouse. that’s why I use that On-Screen Keyboard :P

First of all gratz on The Predator

I agree with the developers that the iZerker may hit 0-4 times. It’s simply the nature of a whirlwind in one direction, here as well as on warriors.

But this vid shows the problem, that in my opinion makes everyone talk about a big “bug”. The fact that he misses when clearly going through the enemy (something I had to experience a LOT myself -.-).

Now I’m just curious if this really is a “bug” in the sense that something causes the program to make faulty decisions. It could as well, something I rather think it is, just be a not so optimized hit calculation.

A developer (don’t ask me who, I can’t remember) made a picture in the main iZerker post about the hitpoints of the whirlwind. Looking at that picture and seeing all the vids makes me think that those 4 hitting points are just programmed in a way that the iZerker will miss from certain spots. In your vid for example it would mean that the hitting spot came right before and/or right after the golem.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this is good at all. But if it’s not a bug, like the developers seem to think, it would be good to try and make them see this is a faulty calculation instead due to too fixed/too variable (i don’t know how they programmed it) hitting points instead of for example calculating if there has been an intersection between whirl and enemy somewhere in 1 full whirlaround.

Also I note this here instead of on the other post because that one, although it’s good for reference, has in my opinion degraded too much in a spam and discussion of the same screenshots over and over.

Thanks for the feedback Speedfire.

I agree the hit box may not be so optimized, but it happened after a patch. So either it is a bug or the hit box change was left out of the patch notes.

And you are right, that other thread has gone on a bit too long

I had a similar thought some days ago and described it here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mesmer-is-broken-Massive-bug/first#post2266221

But to also put it here:

From the (general) patch notes from 28th of January:
“Fixed a bug that could cause rectangular skills to fail to hit the correct targets.”
Could that anyhow be the reason why berserker’s mechanic changed and hits now very inconsistently? Could the fix have affected him negatively by accident?

From the (mesmer) patch notes from 26th of February:
“Fixed a bug that caused some melee attacks to behave inconsistently.”
Which melee attacks? Can it be that the fix did not apply to the berserker and the underlying bug is still happening to the berserker?

Could something like this have caused the whole issue?

It’s a really helpful video. Every pass the zerker makes from one side of the target is a complete miss. I tried 40 cases, and I only got the complete miss scenario to happen once (but all of my targets had the ability to move).

The developers say that 0 hits is possible for one of the zerkers attack sweeps. For me, it just doesn’t seem very probable – I don’t see it happen a lot in real world cases.

Still, this suggests that a relatively small change could make a big difference. If the zerker starts a little closer to the target and it travels a little more slowly along its vector (so that the hit boxes overlap more), it seems like the odds of the complete-miss passes would go down.

Didn’t hear about that one, very interesting Navi.
