It’s a great change the mobs won’t get pulled over the center anymore. Sure it’s a nerf for eotm or wvw in general since you can’t throw ppl off cliffs anymore, but for pve I think it’s a great change.
Yet now the mobs won’t get pulled into the center anymore, they get pulled towards the wall itself wich makes stacking impossible. The probably best pull in the game became the worst now…
Is this really working as intended or just a bad bug?! :/ Please tell us ANet! It’s extremly annoying …
I really hope it’s just a bug.
The focus pull is one of the most useful pulling skills in the game, but now it`s kind of wierd.
And yes ….. IT IS ANNOYING!
I agree, I preferred the old pull mechanic. I found it more interesting and fun.

Is it either edge or specific right/left?
edit: seems both outermosts of curtain have a pull now. I wonder what happens when we try to pull smthg/someone that it is equally distant from both extremes…

Keep the change, so long as, when pulling with curtain placed directly on top of someone (thus pulling to both extremes), they’re ripped in two.

^ Didn’t test it myself yet, but to me it still looks like it’s not just the edges that pull, but the entire length of the curtain. Thus, there’s no “two extremes”. And (as frifox demonstrated), if you place the curtain in a 90 degrees angle to what you want to pull, it will get pulled towards the edge… since that’s the point closest to the targets of your pull.

So what you’re saying is, it shouldn’t pull them into two, it should pull them into a fine red mist.

I just can not hate on this change enough.
used to be able to stack enemies, now they just move from one scattered spot to another.
used to be able to throw a player off a cliff, now they just laugh it off.
TC was literally the only reason I refused to give us focus for better dps. currently only not changing because I hope they fix it.
I do like the idea of pulling toward the curtain instead of the middle of it, just not in practice. as a good start, it should at least be able to pull past the curtain
Yeah. This needs to be reverted or something, when I tried to pull the mobs at the end of the cliffside fractal….. Nope.
Actually, the new behavior is much more intuitive IMO. It’s just less useful.
Regardless of the uses this now has I still prefer the old one.

well, in terms of name, I would say it shouldn’t pull at all, it should apply 10s of slow to all nearby enemies.
Just use your F5 and place two veils at 90degrees to each other :-D
I guess since this is a focus skill issue … again … ANet will take about 6 months to “fix” it :/
Tried focus pull on the bombs at the Tarir City meta event. The distance is so laughably small that it’s more effective to use Phantasmal Wave then build alacrity to do it again.
With all the nerfs to focus’ pull, Into the Void is now completely useless. I seriously can’t think of any reason to use it.
Please ArenaNet, revert this change. It gives me no reason to use the focus now, beyond reflects. What used to be my go-to PvE weapon is now something I’ll only use for one very specific purpose. I thought the functionality was perfect before. It was a little unreliable till you gott used to it, but I used to take pride in being able to figure out the best point to place my curtain to stack mobs together rather than scatter them further, as I’m sure many other mesmers did.
If this was the curtain’s intended functionality, then I guess I can’t argue with it, but I’d at least like a statement from the dev team on it. Just someone saying SOMETHING about what drove them to change the pull, and if they’re going to be making any more changes to it. Right now I feel entirely in the dark.

Between RI competing with WF in the Inspiration traitline, along with untraited projectile destruction being buggy, and now not being able to pull people off terrain, I’m leaving my Focus in the bank.
It went from the best offhand a few years back to now arguably one of our weakest offhands.

My bet is they kittened it up unintentionally when they increased its refectable area.

The new pull is so terrible. Please fix! Focus is still relevant!
Btw I also noticed it pulls less now, sometimes not even to the curtain itself. I think it may have something to do with the increase in heigth so it tries to pull mobs into the air wich doesn’t work. But Maybe that’s just me and I’m going nutz x.x

Okay, so I’m not the only one. I just made a thread about this issue till I got forwarded here. Hopefully ArenaNet will look into this. It’d be so awesome if they got it right and if not then the old functionality at the least.
I also noticed it pulls less now, sometimes not even to the curtain itself.
I felt like the pull distance was shorter too but wasn’t positive.
If they do reverse the functionaily, I really really really hope they keep the height of the curtain. It makes it reflect SO much more consistently.

Nice, yeah I just read the patch notes. Pretty awesome.
Seems to pull so much better now too, like, mobs seem to actually move, though I’ve only tested on flat surfaces so far. Overall, works better than before imo, though I will miss pulling things past the line lol.
