Oh boi before I begin I just want to say that this isn’t a topic about nerfing or claiming something is OP. My main used to be a Thief and I know the pain of every other class complaining that your Profession needs to be nerfed. I just wish to share and express the joy of playing as a Mesmer! Every mmo I play I primarily pick stealth Professions, not because they’re OP, but because they’re the most annoying to opponents!

As a former Thief main, I certainly got my share of kills and I also died too of course (Thieves are squishy after all). Thieves are about choosing your fights wisely, seeking opportunities, and retreating if things don’t go your way. As a Thief the Profession that annoyed me the most were Mesmers! Now I’m not saying Mesmers are OP, because I’ve killed/been killed by Mesmers. I’m saying “fighting” Mesmers are what annoyed me the most as a Thief, so I rolled a Mesmer to see what it’s about.

Now that I play as a Mesmer I have no problems (or annoyances) facing other classes, even when they kill me, I just die laughing. I feel like the Mesmers are about dealing with situations, creating opportunities, and retreating if things don’t go your way. Of course I still die sometimes as a Mesmer (we’re squishy too), and I don’t think Thieves and Mesmers, or any Profession are OP. I’m in love with the Mesmer class and even though it’s not OP, I feel OP when playing as one!

Welcome to the Purple Side. My own travel was the reverse path … Mesmer, then Ele, then Thief. Both Mesmer and Thief are hella fun, and honestly my “main” go-to characters. And, yes … both definitely thrive on causing chaos amongst the enemy.

Too many OPs in your post, that might trigger some of Anet’s nerf protocol… just kidding… welcome to mesmer forum.

Depending on what spec you are playing, mesmer currentley ranges from underdog (shatter) to fotm (pu perplexity). We have builds for everything :P

You know, you can praise and denounce a profession without using the words “OP”, lol.
