Since I am running LockDown with the mantra trait instead of DE I have experienced a whole new Mesmer world for myself.

For once: I dodge way way way less, leaving me with soooooooooooooooo much endurance to actually dodge the threatening attacks. Okay, blinding on shatters helps too I guess^^. But my point is, that once I got my old habit of clone spawn dodges under control, my whole fighting style changed. At least it feels like that.

I only wanna say, and it cannot be said enough, this patch was a blessing for Mesmers. And I personally have stepped into a brave new wonderful world xD

Yes. I love being able to shatter meaningfully without DE.

Though Evasive Mirror is helping me to develop all-new greedy dodge habits. :P

Yes. I didn’t think it would happen, but DE doesn’t seem as mandatory now, having a great time without it most of the time. There are moments here and there where I feel caught without illusions, but those moments are fleeting, not critical and easily avoided as I get more used to not having DE. It’s really fine, I’m very happily surprised.

Ironically, I’ve noticed the same. Not that you’ll hear me complaining … ‘tis bl.oody good that DE’s seeming more of an “option” than a “take me, or die.”

But I am not allowed to talk about it. The other Chronomancers will have forbidden me^^

IP baseline is the best decision on mesmer change.
I just couldn’t play any build w/o IP before patch. Now I can play so many different builds with joy.

I must be in the minority then. If by bird you mean a clipped wing caged aviary display piece then I’m all for it. The same circumstances destroy my clones in wvw/pvp. Still running de in all builds. The one bright spot is inspiration trait line. Duel/inspiration anything is really strong in the previous game modes.

I don’t know if you are in the minority. I still see tons and tons of Mesmers with DE… actually come to think of it I can’t remember a single Mesmer in game that didn’t use it.

For me it freed up my play style. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be more competitive, if I still used DE.

Tried a few builds without DE . It can work but DE is just soo much better. The main reason is shatter, we get sooo much good stuff from shatter you are limiting yourself when you don’t shatter as often as you can.

I’m still trying to figure out a long rage build without DE and not shatter too much , haven’t had any luck yet.

Illusionary Persona (you count as an illusion when shattering)

DE = Deceptive evasion (a dueling trait that give a clone when you dodge)

IP = Illusionary Persona (a former trait that was needed to make the shatter effect happen on yourself as well, without it only your clones would apply the shatter effects, but is not rolled into baseline of mesmer)

talking about IP though, i feel there need to be more clarity about that for new mesmer, wouldn’t be surprised if basically any new mesmer from now on dont even realise you make the shatter effect on yourself as well, it is literally not stated ANYWHERE
