So I’m planning to use berserker mantra mesmer in WvW, and I wanna know how it fares against the other professions.. In terms of survivability, I feel like it’s the weakest of all builds and I’m debating whether mantra of pain is worth the slot in utility.. I hear that it’s a viable build, but I’ve checked the forums to see any suggestions but there isn’t a lot of comprehensive guides out there in terms of equipment, traits, and strategies..
For Berserker Mantra? It’s really hard to optimize it. For support mantra, look at Fay.
Yea I’m trying to find a good berserker mantra build that still is able to hold its own against tricky professions like d/d elems. I find that so far, cripple on clone death + clone on dodge are extremely useful for the build (GS/Sword+Focus) in keeping some distance but it still is rather squishy as compared to a berserker shatter build.
Personally I would use Cleric not Berserker with the healing Mantra trait in Inspirations. You can still get some of your crit and extra damage along with safe times to recharge if you do a bit of thinking and research. It’s worked quite well for me personally, I win most 1 v 1 fights, even against d/d/ eles. A random guardian gave me a good run the other day though… but we got interrupted so who knows who would have won.
I’d really like to switch my gear but I’m stuck with berserker trinkets at the moment (it’s quite tedious to get another set of ascended accessories).. I can change the stats of my armors and weapons via transmutation though.. Im currently using divinity runes though..

Just interested why you’d put a priority into healing power, as far as i can see, 1k healing power will give you some 200 more health on mantra charge (ie. 2800 instead of 2600) which doesnt seem all that significant. Wouldnt knights or something give you more dps with hardly any survivability lost?

Mantra charge x 3(for me), Heal spell, and near constant regeneration(for me). Toughness makes non-condition damage that much less making ever bit of healing that much more, and I personally have a couple ways of getting rid of annoying conditions. Though I play a wierd mesmer so what works for me, may not work for you.

Ah, regeneration. Thats quite fine, it scales nicely with healing power, i just thought it woulda been a waste of a stat otherwise. Nevermind, i just remembered that the mantra heal traitline also give regen on phantasms >_>

If you want to go Full Mantra DPS, then yes, in term of survivability, it’s the weakest. In term of damage ? It’s the highest damage build for mesmer. You will need to learn to dodge at good times. However, 3X2 conditions removal, 3Xstability, 3Xfastestheal (cooldown of 10 and or 8 traited ?) ?
MoP can be very annoying to recharge. I just put it on auto attack so I don’t have to manually do it. GS + MoP is deadly. It’s also a good way to add damage to Scepter slow auto-attack.
IMO, people don’t like Mantra builds because we need to recharge every time. It’s a different playstyle that you need to get used to.
I am actually a full mantra Mesmer. Ive switched my traits a lot, sometimes weekly tweeks, sometimes daily! Let me bust out my spec for you.
I use either 30/30/0/0/10

I run 1h sword/torch and Greatsword.
Important traits
In the domination line there are some great choices. Greatsword mastery is nice. And so is the Torch cleansing conflaguration. The most important thing in this line is the Harmonios Mantras.
In Dueling of course you want deceptive evasion. You will shatter with this build, so dont shy away from it. Empowering Mantras is the other half of this combo, and in my oppinion the most important part of a dps mantra build. To me you dont really need Harmonios Mantras if you have this, but ill get into that later.
Then for your last ten points you take Compounding power for the + damage per illusion. Or put 10 pts in the chaos line, for the safe fall, which i personally love.
Now something important!! No matter what anyone tells you, this build isnt just one directional. When ever you get into a keep fight scenario, or any zerg scenario. Switch your Domination master trait, from what ever it is, to Confusing enhancements. Put feedback on your bar, and go to town! I know this isnt going to kill anyone, but most “glamour mesmers” dont kill anyone with there feedback confusion spell either, they just use it for zerg control and tagging.

With this spec i take The same dueling traits as above. They are the key. And the Illusions add 4% to damage trait. But i take 30 in the chaos line. I use this for Prismatic Understanding and illusionary defense. For a sturdier build.
I run full beserkers, and i love this build. I hit hard, and people die. Mindwrack, with all my clones, plus my mantra spike damage, plus my damage is more then people can take sometimes.
