I’m a returning player, and I’ve always played power shatter. Looking around, I certainly see Condi Chrono or Condi PU being popular in WvW.

I want some opinions on how fun these meta builds are; if I’m used to old school power, am I going to be very bored?

I’ve always had power gear, but if I have people saying “Hey Condi isn’t that braindead and you can have some skill ceiling and outplays” I’ll totally gear myself with some of that trailblazers and what not and go ham.

I’m also, as always, very excited to hear about a strong Roaming Power build and some thoughts on that if anyone would like to share.

I have thousands of hours on mesmer. I personally have not enjoyed any variation of many pure condi builds that I’ve tried. I’m running a hybrid right now that I’m having quite a bit of fun with.

But, it doesn’t matter what I or anyone else enjoys. It’s what you enjoy. Get some exotic Dire gear and try it out for a while. If you like it, you can start crafting some of the (very) expensive ascended Trailblazer pieces.

I’ve always had more “fun” playing the defender runes-mantra power shatter variant over the cookie-cutter pure glass cannon power shatter.

For me, working the extra “gimmick” of instant mantra-aegis into my playstyle until it isn’t just a gimmick anymore has been an enjoyable experience.

Returning player after 2 year break myself, I’m currently running a version of my hybrid phantasm build ( given the changes to phantasms and torch recently ) and I’m loving it so far. It’s not “Meta” but I never liked playing cookie cutter builds. Personal playstyle and build diversity is key in keeping thing interesting in WvW IMO.
