GS mobility issues
The GS phantasm has a cripple built into its whirlwind attack. Combined with the knockback on 5, we have decent control over our enemy’s movement.
For my secondary weapon set, i use sword/focus mainly for the additional control that Temporal Curtain offers. In WvW, I add Blink to my toolset because it is very versatile as a gap closer or gap creator.
It’s worth noting that Berserker cripples, which makes the kiting aspect easier. Against mobs you can find ways to get far away, against players the range really isn’t that big of an issue, you should just put all your GS skills on CD then swap to an alt weapon if he gets too close.
Yeah the cripple helps, I just don’t think mind stab does enough to justify being forced to stand still while using it. And I’m still not sure what’s up with mirror blade cancelling some times, maybe it’s a bug?
I currently use a build that has almost 100% uptime on chill during the nights.
i used gs 1-80 and still use it as my primary now. it’s not quite the issue being made out here. perhaps in spvp and tpvp, but taugrim doesn’t appear to have this problem either.
I’ve seen the GS2 clone not spawning issue, and wonder what’s up with that.
I don’t tend to use GS3 because it’s such a tiny AoE and does less damage than the autoattack at range, making other choices like dropping a clone a better use of the time and effort I would spend targeting with that tiny reticule (and missing moving targets more often than not anyway).
The rest of the skills are solid, though, and GS5 is amazing for DE tagging. Granted, it does work against your iBeserker’s AoE, but if they’re close enough to use GS5, it’s probably best to use it anyway.
Or break out the dual swords for the shwing-shwing.

the clone not spawning is not limited to gs2. it happens on other weapons.
