GW2 Playerbase Survey
XD, what shock me the most is that only 33% of the player-base pre-purchased HoT despite the hype. This is a very low number for the first expansion of the game.
I think Anet would be in a serious financial trouble if things go on like this. Usually Pre-purchase is the life or death of a game’s success most of the time.
Anet really screwed up big time by kittening up too many players.
@Aomine
Only?! I am shocked that many people throw money on something which a) isn’t out and b) they know little about and which is for all we know far from completion. You’d think people learn, eventually, from the likes of Arkham Knight and F1 2015.
33% sounds extremely high for pre-purchases.
@Ross
Is highly biased ofc, since it was done on reddit. Effectively asking the already-vocal parts of the community, which tends to be biased.
Every human profession has more female than male haha.
And same for norn

You’d be surprised how many games rely on the first 3 days launch to determine the sales of the product.
Generally first 3 days contribute to around half of the total sales on a video game most of the time, and the majority of that number comes from the pre-purchase.
Yes but we’re ~100 or so days before launch. :P
Meh. Sad world where people pre-purchase in such numbers.
So you’re trying to tell me that the typical GW2 player is male, 20-24 years old, played GW1 but only casually, has 500+ hours over 1000+ days, likes human females, elementalists, guardians, mesmers and warriors but hates charr, engineers, rangers and necromancers, mostly plays PvE, likes Living World, bought gems from the store and thinks ANet is bad at releasing info. Who could have possibly guessed?
Trahearne 50/50, that one I did not see coming.
Powershatter mesmer
D/D roamer
(ditto)
So aparently a lot of people have a human female mesmer toon. Who’d of thought?
Mesmer top 3 fav class after Ele and Guard.

This kind of number only makes sense in comparison with other expansions. What percentage of WoW’s active player base pre-ordered WoD within a month of pre-orders going live, for instance?
I think 33% is actually a pretty high number for an expansion that doesn’t even have a release date…
