Also since we now know how the layout should be, we can simplify how we present the build to other like

E.g.
Domination: 2-5-9
where
2 = EI
5 = BI
9 = PB

It may not work because the traits won’t have numbers. The unfortunate thing is that we have to talk about each line seperately so in reality, there’s no simplification. Heh. Anet’s goal was to simplify build creation but they made build explanation more elongated.

You can also take the ascii art approach and simulate the little line thing:
Domination: —v
Dueling: A-V
Chaos: AAA
etc.

This is my preference – 123 or abc for top/middle/bottom choices at each tier respectively.

I guess that works better since each section (Adept/Master/Grand Master) only has three levels of traits to select from.

I like this a lot as well. As a fun side project, I was working on my own trait calculator (gw2traits.herokuapp.com) and used this same idea to encode the URL.

Seeing specs as “Duel132/Chaos213/Illu312” Feels pretty clear to me. Short enough to be easy to type but clear enough to give all the information.

The ^-V ones are more graphically consistent with the in-game, but I find them trickier to read. “Is that the letter V? is that a dash or a middle trait?”

Also, keep in mind that I think that_shaman has the numbered trait icons. I think in the SSs we’ve seen from ANet, the traits are no longer numbered. Something like “Chaos 1-5-11” will lose its meaning when the final icons are in place.

What about lo (low, bottom trait), mi (middle trait), to (top trait)?

• d/d/c = Domination / Dueling / Chaos
• d/d/in = Domination Dueling / Inspiration
• do/in/il = Domination / Inspiration / Illusions
• do/c/in = Dominaion / Chaos / Inspiration

If you want trait allocations

• d111/d111/c111 = domination 1-1-1 / dueling 1-1-1 / chaos 1-1-1
• do123/c321/il222 = domination 1-2-3 / chaos 3-2-1 / illusions 2-2-2

If ANet decides to give trait lines a number, it’ll be even easier

• 1/2/5 = Domination / Dueling / Illusions
• 1-123/2-123/5-123 = Dominaion 1-2-3 / Dueling 1-2-3 / Illusions 1-2-3
