This thief kills me in two hits multiple times. My armor has toughness as its attribute. Running shatter build. How to deal with him. Killed him once out of 5 times. Only because I was down and confusion was 7 stack.

So far on this kinds of threads I given long answers and linked movies etc. In your case thu I feel you just died a few times and instead of do research and worked things out you just do a lasy (yes wery lasy) post in meser forums, not providing build, no video, no explanation of how you played or what strategy etc you used.

I cant help you mate with a long post as I already put more effort in this smal semi rant than you did on your question. What I do thu Is help you by ask you to go thru the mesmer forums, there are LONG and wery helpfull threads about the matter, there is even movies “how to” and several different approachs.

If you thu would gatther info, do some serious ressearch and mabye even provide a build link, explain what build the thief used and best of al a video I would happily help you mate.

There are many options, just find something that works for you. Go into an empty sPvP match with a thief friend and practice. Every defeat is a chance to learn.

What’s a Theif?

I solve this by running away from thieves in pvp.

Phase Retreat, Magic Bullet, Confusing Images, Illusionary Counter, iDuelsit, Chaos Storm, Phase Retreat (Chaos Armor), iWarlock.

While I’m not able to kill the two thieves who get the jump on me, I am able to tank their damage and evade their attacks long enough to escape.

+ reflect trait on distortion, and he’ll kill himself quite fast.

Doesn’t matter what skills you have loaded. When you run around, get into fights, at any time your HP dips under 70%, you run the risk of getting 2 shotted before you even see the thief.

I would also add that putting 15 points into chaos will help against ANY burst damage class. Once your hp hits 75% you gain regeneration which then also procs the protection. 33% damage reduction against a burst damage class + some toughness makes it feel like they are hitting you with pillows and should give you plenty of time to react before the protection wears off.

Agree with what most others have said except reflect trait on distortion – that never works IMO against a BS burst. Use #4 if you have it up.

Personally I like to nerdrage a little, then say in my guild vent “I hate thieves!” To which the reply is now “Seems like they hate you too”.

Ok, sorry for the non helpful reply. There are some good videos online of how to deal with, and in my case it’s still a l2p thing. We are their target, they are designed to destroy us quickly. I honestly rarely ever even see them before I die so I just accept in that specific case the odds are currently stcked against me, in time I’ll get good enough to counter them, otherwise I’ll just go and see the armor repair NPC and feel good about having helped that thief get 1 kill closer to his daily and maybe have helped him out with some badges =)

I taken on the subject of thiefs in many part of my guide. Also last video tactic guide touching the subject and end with a longer fight vs BS thief in open terrain.

You can’t really run away from theives, they have shadow step AND most have 33% increase in movement speed.

Indeed, and not only that, you shouldn’t run away from thieves; we have all the tools we need to shred them.
