Glint's lair
Check this out:

This basically shows the the tricks to grab all the achievements. The guide was done with a Mesmer, but in reality, once you know the tricks. The build doesn’t really matter much.
While that is a nice guide, I might watch the video that is not what I am aiming for, I just want to finish the story on my mesmer, I have not had the patience or luck to get past the second boss in glint’s lair without raging after the 2nd death or so every time I have tried to do it.
However if the guide video is being done by a mesmer perhaps I can get a few hints to make it possible for me to finish without giving up.
I forget which part you’re talking about. I know one of those fights was really frustrating. However, in one of the fights, you don’t need to attack him at all. You simply use the crystals to attack him.
I used Torch, Decoy Mass Invis PU with traited blink in order to safely get myself from the shield that makes you weak to the other crystal that shoots him. Sorry I’m so not articulate when it comes to remembering this boss!
If you need help, give me a whisper. I’m going to log on now.

No it is the boss before you have the weak circle thrown out, yes that part in my opinion was easy and having back up on the last boss makes it easy if you make a mistake, no this one is hte boss where you kill a minion get a color buff and run to the buff to get a shield so you can go in hte middle to beat down on him.
I have already finished the story on my necro and warrior, like I said been having a rough time with my mesmer, however putting blink in might allow me to escape his mechanic that keeps pulling me back which might allow me a few second more to dps him down with blur twice if I go sword again.
OK in that one you do the same thing. You don’t need to go into the middle to beat him down.
1. Kill the minion.
2. Get the shield.
3. Take the color buff to its color. This causes an attack on the champ.
Like I said, PU with the trait to increase Blink distance should be good. The hardest part is #3.

I’ll try again to attack from range with the shield up but last time I did it I almost recall doing no damage outside of the aoe and even then I had to get within 2/3 in to do damage from what i remember but I willing to try it from range again with the shield on.
Here’s a mesmer solo

No it doesn’t. You are talking about the last boss, which is a combination of the previous ones… you need to kill a minion to be able to walk into a crystal with a shield on, so you get the color and (in this fight more important) can switch over the “shield” to the crystal, which in turn lets you destroy it as soon as the boss comes near… which damages the boss, disables the damaging AoE for a while and lets you normally damage the boss again.
He on the other hand is talking about the second boss, which has the AoE-damage that you need the color-attunement for, but no shields that let you destroy the crystals (which would damage the champ if he’s in range). I also found this boss to be a bit annoying at first, but it’s certainly doable. What I did was, that I got the color attunement, walked in on the boss with greatsword (to attack him immediately) and then when I’m in melee-range, I would swap to sword/x and use Blurred Frenzy on it, which guaranteed me a couple more hits. Then I would try to stay behind it and just autoattack, until the timer is running out and I needed to run/double-dodge/blink out of the AoE. You don’t need to trait Blink btw, but of course you can do so if you want. What you can do to further improve this is, to take the mantra that provides stability and stunbreaks. You could even trait it to have 3 charges (and a shorter cooldown). That should be enough to get your attacks through without being interrupted by the boss.
ahh I see now. Perfect strategy above. I forget what I did for the second boss. It wasn’t so bad though.

the boss tends to pull me back into the aoe after I just get outside the aoe when my shield goes down, both pulling me in knocking me down as well and killing me and resetting his health by the time I get back to him.
Some claim the boss doesn’t have his ability but I know for a fact that all of have the the ability to pull you to them, I think it has a limited range seem the edge of the aoe is still within its range to pull you back in.
He indeed doesn’t have this ability. Two things can make it looks like he does, though.
1) your shield run out before you get out of the AoE. Its borders are akin to Ring of Warding, and will push you back (toward the boss).
2) you get near a color area while getting out of the AoE. Those push you back if you don’t have the color buff (which you probably won’t have anymore by the time your shield is running out) and have a deceptively large (and invisible) area of effect.
Ideally, get out of the AoE as soon as your shield buff icon start blinking, and pass midway between two colored areas, never getting close to any. It should ensure a safe extraction.
Good luck
