Greatsword 3 skill (Mind stab)
I agree that it’s a very situational skill and for it to be a number 3 skill it seems almost like a waste. Often it doesn’t remove the boons you really want to remove from NPC or enemies either because of it being random. It would make more sense if it removed 3 boons or more but keep the small radius.
It would make it worthwhile and make more sense in my opinion. I rarely touch my number three skill because I don’t often find a need for it, Especially in PvE. I find myself using it more for a quick extra burst damage.
Alternatively make it so it prioritises certain boons so depending on which boons there are it’ll pick the most important ones to remove first. Like regeneration (since we have lack of poison) – swiftness (since we are severely lacking in speed buffs) – stability (would make sense with nr 5) – protection – retaliation – fury – might – vigor… you know what I mean something like that.

Yeah, I pretty much ignore this move entirely. It can be okay if enemies are really grouped together for a bit of AOE, but its’ such a hassle to use and I usually just forget its’ there. The rest of the set is good enough that I don’t mind one kind of sub-par ability.
Damage is kitten too.

been saying this for some time and each time i make a suggestion there’s a nerd who quotes me saying “you just don’t how to use it properly” lolz. This is my suggestion for. Same aoe as choas storm, 5 sec lasting time, every sec it applies bleeding for 5 sec (5 stacks total), deal better than average damage (since we have absolutely none now), 30 sec recharge time, 3/4 casting time. Animation should stay as is BUT changed to multiple smaller sized blades spiking from the ground. Would look awesome and make GS even better for condition builds.
EDIT: Also, make it so at last second a much larger blade erupts from the ground dealing higher damage and blast finisher? I dunno about people in gw2 but i really liked combo spamming spells in DA:O, DA2 and all Mass Effect games, would be nice if gw2 had a deeper combo system and not just “spam that through a field and give confusion”.

Yea, this skill is pretty useless, I’m a GS/Staff Mesmer and almost never use this unless everything else is on cool down. Not only is the damage trivial, but it doesn’t seem to remove boons properly, even with direct hits, and takes forever to pull off (relatively).
If the crystal stuck around after the initial hit and created a boon field of some sort until destroyed, it would have some actual viability. As it is, I essentially ignore the skill (I tried to use it, but it’s simply too cumbersome for what it does, or doesn’t do).
I’d love to have it be a blast finisher with maybe an increased cd if it was the case. That’d be neat but having GS buffed is not going to happen anytime soon imo. ^^
Even if it was a blast finisher it wouldn’t really need it’s cooldown increased.
Yup, make it a blast finisher, and I’d be good. Larger AOE would be nice, too.

It’s weak and the AE range is small but in WvW you can use it hit players near the ledge. That and Chaos Storm is about all we got in that situation now that iZerker LOS is in place.
It definitely needs something. Maybe a cripple effect, though that might be overpowered since then GS3 and the iZerker would both have a cripple, might be too easy to kite in PvP then. Maybe a knockdown?
I feel it certainly needs more return for your investment in PvP, since it forces you to ground target someone who is usually moving (given the small reticle while trying to hit a moving enemy, it is easy to time it slightly off and have it be a wasted attempt) and it makes you stand still to cast it. Anet obviously felt the old version was a bit too strong, back when it was a direct damage type move instead of a reticle (I believe it also did better damage back then), but they made it too weak when they changed it.
It needs one or some combo of the following:
- Cripple
- Knockdown
- Larger reticle
- Revert back to direct damage
- Ability to cast while moving
- More damage
- Trait somewhere in Domination line that makes it remove up to 3 buffs at a time or maybe just tack this on for free
These are just some suggestions, again, I am not suggesting ALL of the above be added, just at least one or two. My biggest desire would be the removal of 3 boons, but I’m thinking more about PvP here I suppose. Would certainly help with fighting bunker type builds to have an on-demand multi-boon removal.
Berserker already has a cripple. GS is already the highest DPS 2-hander. It doesn’t really need any more buffs. It is also noob friendly, often the weapon of choice for leveling.
Fix other weapons first please.

I’m not sure what you are talking about. My greatsword has only four skills.
I think before any other change an increase in area should come first.
After that either more dmg or more boon removal. Although the latter must always be weighted against all mesmer boon removal tools stacked together alongside the boon removing sigil.
I disagree with bleeding as GS is primarily a power/aoe weapon (whose clones just happen to make it flexible to be used for condition).
It would be interesting if this was remade into a proper AOE move since mesmers are severely lacking in this area other than in melee range and chaos storm. Make the area of effect larger, make it do more damage.

It was suggested by someone else in a different thread but it would be great if attacks the target you select, doesn’t lock you down and performs a launch. thats right, a launch. (even if it means doing next to nothing damage with a fair CD to go along with it)
