Greatsword as a condi weapon
It’s…ok. The problem is that compared to say, the staff, it’s much more 1-dimensional. You don’t have the burns at all, just bleeds. You also lose mobility and defense from chaos armor, chaos storm, and phase retreat.
Overall, it’s absolutely a worse condition weapon than the staff. That said, it does sorta work, and due to that I’ll use it when I’m on skyhammer with a condie build.
I kind of like condi greatsword, its feels like it gives more chasing power than a regular condi build. Of course it has iBerserker to cripple someone running but you also have mirror blade to create a clone and use diversion if they try to heal. Mirror blade also becomes an unblockable poison if you use it with sigil of doom, so that at least weakens an enemy’s heal if you can’t interrupt it.
I think rabid would be better than rampagers, it feels like rampagers loses too much just for a little bit extra crit chance. And like Pyro said, you lose mobility and defense while using greatsword so I think rabid’s toughness makes up for it a little.
Here’s the hybrid version that I’m using: http://youtu.be/GS4xCKyg1dg
The original, as far as I’m aware, comes from Dooid: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Maximised-Hybrid-Phantasm-Build-Roaming/first

Indeed that was the one. PU though :/

PU is fine, works a treat
I run a 20/25/10/0/15 clone death build with GS. Perplex runes, full rabid and sigil of earth.
Basically the amount of bleeds and conditions you put out with clone spam is great.
I used to love staff but, frankly, I find GS better overall for anything requiring more aggression. Staff is fine if you need defences but that’s about it. The extra burn doesn’t compensate the fact that you can still apply vuln randomly and the general slow nature of the staff.
All in all, I find GS to be more reliable at applying conditions than staff. Ironic, I know.
